Marvel is concentrating on the "Blade" filming.

The "Blade" crew was informed that the project has been put on hold after director Bassam Tariq left the movie on September 28, two months before it was scheduled to begin shooting. Mahershala Ali, a two-time Oscar winner, plays the vampire superhero, and Beau DeMayo wrote the script.
Marvel temporarily halted all production-related activities in Atlanta, where the movie was supposed to begin filming in November, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news first. There is still no attached director for the movie. Early in 2023, production is anticipated to pick back again.

Currently scheduled for release on November 3, 2023, "Blade" is anticipated to be postponed as a result of the production reorganisation.

Marvel made the "Blade" announcement during the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, revealed that Academy Award winner Ali, who won for his roles in "Moonlight" and "Green Book," had personally called him to propose a reboot of the legendary character, who was first portrayed on screen by Wesley Snipes in the 1998 movie "Blade," followed by "Blade II" and "Blade: Trinity."

The comics by Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan are the inspiration for the Marvel superhero. Stacy Osei-Kuffour, a "PEN15" Emmy nominee, was chosen by lead actor Ali to write the script; however, Osei-Kuffour subsequently departed the production, and DeMayo oversaw script revisions. Osei-Kuffour was the first Black woman to write for a Marvel movie.

Only Black writers were given serious consideration at the time, according to THR, reflecting Marvel's emphasis on diversity and making representation a crucial consideration, particularly when tackling non-white characters.

In a recent interview with IndieWire, director Tariq stated that "a Black man invented the superhero universe that we're in, that's simply the fact" and that he was "very privileged" to collaborate with both Ali and Osei-Kuffour on the reimagined narrative.

The "Mogul Mowgli" director declared in a press release following his departure from the movie, "It's been an honour working with the fantastic team at Marvel. We were able to assemble a fantastic cast and crew. eager to see where the film is taken by the upcoming filmmaker.

Bassam is no longer moving forward as director of "Blade," but he will continue to serve as an executive producer on the movie, Marvel maintained. We are grateful for Bassam's ability and the hard effort he put in to make "Blade" what it is today.
