Jacob Seth Lofland (born July 30, 1996) is an American actor best known for his roles in Mud as Neckbone and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials and Maze Runner: The Death Cure as Aris.

Life and work

Billy and Debra Lofland raised Lofland in Briggsville, Arkansas.

He made his film debut as Neckbone in Jeff Nichols' Mud, alongside Matthew McConaughey and Tye Sheridan. The director wanted to find a young actor in the area for the part, so casting notices were placed in local newspapers. When Lofland's mother came across one of them, she recognized that her son fit every adjective of Neck's personality description, as well as bringing the boating and cycling experience that Nichols was looking for. Lofland applied and was invited to read for the casting director in Little Rock. Lofland took his first plane flight to Austin to audition for Nichols and producer Sarah Green less than three weeks after his mother saw the open casting call in the paper. He was offered the part and was on set with a full film crew within a month.

He joined the cast of Little Accidents, which premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, in 2013.

He joined the cast of the new season of Justified in 2014, and he co-starred as Aris in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials in 2015. Lofland returned to the role in Maze Runner: The Death Cure in 2018.
