In addition to explaining why Kamino was left out of the Jedi archives, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi provides fascinating new tales about characters from the Star Wars canon, including as Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku. The Jedi Temple records do not include information about the enigmatic planet Kamino, as seen in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, yet Obi-Wan Kenobi nonetheless discovers the remote planet and its army of clones. The Star Wars prequel trilogy withholds the identity of the criminal behind Kamino's erasure, leaving Star Wars Legends continuity to do so. Star Wars canon eventually reveals the cause of Kamino's removal from the archives and who was to blame thanks to Tales of the Jedi.
In the first scene of Tales of the Jedi episode 4, "The Sith Lord," Count Dooku enters the Jedi archives and deletes Kamino from the database while posing as Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas. Count Dooku was already on the way to becoming a Sith Lord by this time, actively serving as a Darth Sidious agent and putting himself in a position to succeed Darth Maul after the Dathomirian's apparent demise on Naboo. Attack of the Clones makes clear how important Kamino is to Palpatine's big scheme since it creates the elite clone troopers required to win over and kill the Jedi once the soldiers' dormant brainwashing techniques are triggered.

The Jedi Order of the Star Wars prequel period had grown haughty and smug. The Jedi were not just overconfident in their use of the Force, but they were also overly involved in the politics of the corrupt Galactic Republic. When deleting Kamino, Count Dooku took use of this. While many people are familiar with the world, including Obi-Wan Kenobi's acquaintance from the cafe Dexter Jettster, the Jedi felt a planet was simply nonexistent if it was not recorded in the archives. Jedi librarian Jocasta Nu made this point explicitly in Attack of the Clones.
Dooku's alteration of the archives made sure that the Jedi would not go to Kamino and learn about the clone army until the time was right since Kamino needed to be kept secret while the Jango Fett clones were being created. Dooku wiped 37 other important worlds, including Dromund Kaas and Dagobah, according to the Star Wars Legends timeline, in addition to erasing Kamino from the archives. Each planet was thought to be important to Palpatine's plans in some fashion, therefore Dooku destroyed them to keep the Jedi Order away while his plans could still be carried out.
Before the events of Attack of the Clones, as a Separatist Crisis was about to develop into the galaxy-spanning Clone Wars, Kamino was removed from Coruscant's Jedi archives, preventing the Jedi from learning about the development of Palpatine's clone army. Dooku persuaded Jango Fett to serve as the model for the clone troopers, which eventually grew into an army of some of the best non-Force-sensitive soldiers in the galaxy under the guise of Darth Tyranus. Dooku also had every clone unit implanted with a mind control chip while they were embryos, ensuring the clones would kill the Jedi when Order 66 was issued. The fact that Dooku was tampering with the Jedi records helped keep these plans a secret.

Obi-Wan When tracking Jango Fett after the bounty hunter's failed efforts to kill Padmé, Kenobi rediscovered Kamino, but the tenacious Jedi unintentionally helped Palpatine. Dooku and Palpatine's involvement in the project was hidden from the public gaze because it was Kenobi's discovery that ultimately led to the clone army fighting for the Galactic Republic. One of Dooku's last jobs for Palpatine before succeeding the ostensibly dead Darth Maul as the Emperor's Sith Apprentice was to erase Kamino. What occurred after the Star Wars prequels to Kamino?

The clone troopers ultimately served their mission, as tragically demonstrated in both Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. With the majority of the Jedi Order destroyed by Order 66, Darth Vader, Dooku's successor, and the Imperial Inquisitors were able to hunt down any surviving members. The clone troopers were no longer valuable to the Empire after the Clone Wars, despite being brainwashed into Imperial service by their control chips.

Kamino's cloning facilities were shut down less than a year after Revenge of the Sith and immediately bombarded by the Imperial navy, as depicted in Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 1, putting an end to the Kaminoans' genetic tampering once and for all. But the practise of cloning would continue in Star Wars. Following Count Dooku's erasure of Kamino in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, other Imperial cloning efforts on Wayland and Exegol would be carried out.
