Fans of Attack on Titan have been engrossed by the show's compelling protagonists and the difficult choices they are forced to make for 10 years. But what the audience might not know is how much heart and soul the actors put into playing these roles. As the English version of the series enters its tenth year, voice actresses Trina Nishimura, who voices Mikasa, and Bryce Papenbrook, who voices Eren Yeager, recently recounted their emotional experiences at New York Comic Con. Papenbrook, who was already a fan of the show before he was cast, spoke about the difficulties of playing Eren Yeager. Papenbrook's passion to his portrayal prompted him to physically embody Eren's hardships; during a recording session, he bit his own hand so hard that he bruised it to capture the character's transition into a Titan. In another session, he opened his jaw wide to convincingly portray Eren's anguish.
"It's worth it for this show to go to those dark places," Papenbrook said emphatically. "I love that I get to play Eren in so many different ways." Related Archival File: Full Biography of Yuzvendra Chahals Cryptic Post Sparks Divorce Rumors with Dhanashree Verma: What Fans Are Saying
Despite being threatened by Papenbrook's ferocity, Nishimura eventually found motivation in his work ethic. She reflected on a poignant scenario in which Mikasa must make a choice that would affect the rest of her life. Nishimura gave the session everything she had, empathizing with her character's predicament. She said that the team's acceptance helped her to open out about Mikasa's sensitivity.
Nishimura said, "It's the safety and comfort of the team that allows me to go to those dark places," illustrating the value of emotional honesty in acting.
Fans are counting down the years until the 2024 English release of Attack on Titan The Final Chapters Special 2, hoping to see the series' ten-year adventure come to a satisfying conclusion. Fans' attachment to their favorite characters is strengthened by the dedication and enthusiasm of the voice actors, as was on display at New York Comic Con.
