Twin explosion hits Jammu Air Force Station

On early Sunday morning, two low-intensity twin explosions rocked the high-security technical area of Jammu Air Force Station around 1:45 am. According to the tweet by Indian Air Force –“ Two low-intensity explosions were reported early Sunday morning in the technical area of Jammu Air Force Station. One caused minor damage to the roof of the building while the other exploded in an open area. There was no damage to any equipment. An investigation is in progress along with civil agencies.”

According to the sources from News 18, explosions were likely carried by a remote-controlled drone. Sources believe that the blasts could be a drone attack since the patrol party at the Jammu technical area saw a light blink in the air. The explosion did not cause any damage to equipments, but two IAF personnel received minor injuries.

An FIR has been lodged under the section 16 (terror act), 18(conspiracy to commit terror act), 23 UAPA(the enhanced penalty for using explosives to commit terror act), 307 (Attempt to murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 3(use of explosives under Explosive Substance Act).

Speaking to CNN- News 18, Jammu And Kashmir DGP Dilbagh Singh confirmed that the payload was dropped using drones. Meanwhile, Additional Director General Police (ADG) Jammu, Mukesh Singh told reporters that the police have arrested a militant near a mall in the jurisdiction of the TrikutaNagar Police Station from whose possession an IED weighing five kg has been recovered.

The attack on the Jammu Airport took place hours before the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Army Chief General MM Naravanebegan a three-day visit to Ladakh to review India’s operational readiness and to interact with the troops in the backdrop of a drawn-out standoff with China.
