Sophie Belinda Jonas (born 21 February 1996) is a British actress. She made her acting debut as Sansa Stark on HBO's epic fantasy television series Game of Thrones (2011–2019), for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2019.
Turner made her feature film debut in Another Me after appearing in the television film The Thirteenth Tale (2013). (2013). She played a young Jean Grey / Phoenix in the X-Men film series and appeared in the action comedy Barely Lethal (2015). (2016–2019).
Early years
Sophie Belinda Turner was born on February 21, 1996, in Northampton, England, to Sally, a nursery school teacher, and Andrew, who works for a pallet distribution company. When she was two years old, she moved to Chesterton, Warwickshire. She attended Warwick Prep School until she was 11 years old, after which she transferred to the independent The King's High School for Girls. Turner has been with Playbox Theatre Company since she was three years old. She is the younger of two brothers. Her twin died while she was still in the womb.
She grew up in a large Edwardian house near Leamington Spa, where she stated, "My childhood was a lot of fun. We had pigsties, barns, and a paddock where we used to play in the mud." Turner was tutored on the Game of Thrones set until the age of 16. She received five A-grades and four Bs at GCSE, including a B in Drama.
Career
In August 2009, Turner was cast as Sansa Stark, a young noblewoman, in the HBO fantasy drama series Game of Thrones. Turner was 14 years old when filming began in July 2010. Turner's first television role was as Sansa. Turner's drama teacher encouraged her to audition for the role, and she dyed her blonde hair auburn for the part, though she began wearing wigs in Season 7. In 2012, she was nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Series - Supporting Young Actress for her role as Sansa, which she shared with her on-screen sister, Maisie Williams. Turner appeared in every one of the eight broadcast seasons.

In 2013, she made her film debut as the lead character in the independent thriller film Another Me, based on Catherine MacPhail's novel of the same name. In the 2013 television film The Thirteenth Tale, she played Adeline March. In 2013, she was cast alongside Hailee Steinfeld in the comedy film Barely Lethal, which was released on May 29, 2015 in a limited release and via video on demand. Turner also narrated the audiobook version of Lev Grossman's short story "The Girl in the Mirror," which was published in George R. R. Martin's anthology Dangerous Women. In 2014, she narrated Cassandra Clare's audiobook City of Heavenly Fire. She was the face of Karen Millen's "The Journey" campaign the same year. Turner portrayed mutant Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, which was released to mixed reviews in May 2016.
During the summer of 2016, she co-hosted the web video Powershift with the Huffington Post. She announced in March 2017 that she had become a patron of Women for Women, an organisation that assists female war survivors. Turner stated in August 2017 that she believed her social media following, rather than her acting abilities, were responsible for her successful casting in an unnamed project, saying, "It was between me and another girl who is a far better actress than I am, far better, but I had the followers, so I got the job." She began working with Wella Hair in June 2017, becoming the company's first international brand ambassador.
Turner was cast as Juliane Koepcke in the film Girl Who Fell From the Sky in November 2017. She has also agreed to produce the film. She shot the independent film Heavy in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in March and April 2018. Turner played Jean Grey again in the X-Men film Dark Phoenix, which is set in 1992 and follows the events of Apocalypse. The film was released in June of this year.
She has appeared in print advertisements for the luxury designer brand Louis Vuitton.
Turner was cast in the thriller television show Survive in September 2019.
Private life
In 2016, Turner began dating American singer Joe Jonas. They got engaged in October of 2017. They tied the knot on May 1, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Turner legally changed her last name to Jonas after her marriage; the couple now lives in New York City. On June 29, 2019, they held a second wedding ceremony in Carpentras, France. The couple has two daughters, born in July 2020 and July 2022, respectively.
Turner inspired the song "Hesitate," which Jonas wrote as a love letter to her for the Jonas Brothers reunion album, Happiness Begins.
