Shin Hye-sun is a South Korean actress who was born on August 31, 1989. She made her television debut in the series School 2013. Shin made her breakthrough as a leading lady in the weekend drama My Golden Life in 2017, garnering over 8 million viewers. She is also well-known for her roles in Korean dramas such as Still 17 (2018), The Hymn of Death (2018), Angel's Last Mission: Love (2019), and Mr. Queen (2020–2021).

Career

2012-2016: Beginnings of a career and minor roles

Shin made her acting debut in the TV drama School 2013, an installment of the long-running School series, after passing the audition for a schoolgirl role. She played a minor character named after herself.

Shin's breakthrough roles came in 2015, with Oh My Ghost and She Was Pretty. Despite the fact that both titles were romantic comedies, her characters differed greatly.

2016-2017: Groundbreaking

Her breakthrough came in 2016 with the release of Five Enough. Her portrayal of a gullible, naively romantic woman, as well as her pairing with actor Sung Hoon, became popular with viewers. She appeared in the fantasy-romance drama The Legend of the Blue Sea the same year.

In the 2017 film A Day, she played her first lead role. Shin went on to play a pivotal role in the critically acclaimed crime thriller series Stranger. Soon after, she was cast as the lead in her first television drama, KBS2's My Golden Life. The drama was a huge success in South Korea, with ratings exceeding 40%, earning Shin more attention. 2018-2019: Creative personalities

Shin co-starred with Lee Jong-suk in the SBS drama special The Hymn of Death in 2018. Yun Sim-deok, Korea's first professional soprano singer, was played by her.

The same year, she co-starred in the SBS romance comedy drama Still 17, alongside Yang Se-jong, as an aspiring violinist whose life was turned upside down by an accident.

Shin co-starred with Kim Myung-soo in the KBS2 fantasy romance drama Angel's Last Mission: Love in 2019 as a ballerina who is uninterested in love.

2020–present: Rising popularity and film debut

In 2020, she was cast in her first lead role as a lawyer who decides to defend her mother (Bae Jong-ok) from prosecution in the legal film Innocence. Her performance in the film received positive reviews, and she was nominated for Best New Actress at the 41st Blue Dragon Film Awards.

In November, she co-starred with Lee Je-hoon in the caper story film Collectors as an art curator Yoon, and later in the TVN hit drama Mr. Queen as both Kim So-yong (Queen Cheorin) and Jang Bong-Hwan, a male chef from 2020 whose soul travels back in time and becomes trapped in Kim So-body. yong's Shin was nominated for the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards in the category of Best Actress (TV) for her performance in Mr. Queen, as well as Best New Actress (Film) for her performance in Innocence.

Shin renewed her contract with YNK Entertainment on December 14, 2021.

Philanthropy

Shin donated $100 million to those affected by the 2022 South Korean floods through The Neighbors Honors Club on August 30, 2022.
