Roopal Tyagi (born October 6, 1989) is a television actor and choreographer from India. She is most known for her role as Gunjan in the Zee TV drama Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke. In 2015, she appeared on the dance reality shows Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 8 and Bigg Boss 9.
Tyagi was born in Bangalore, India on October 6, 1989. Sophia High School in Bangalore was where she received her education. She studied at Shiamak Davar's dance studio in Bangalore, her hometown, before assisting Bollywood choreographer Pony Verma on the song "Mere Dholna" from the film Bhool Bhulaiyaa. She commuted between Bangalore and Mumbai for two years before settling in Mumbai.
Career
In 2007, Roopal began her career as a choreographer. She began her acting career as Mansha in Hamari Betiyoon Ka Vivaah and later appeared in Ek Nayi Chhoti Si Zindagi. She also appeared in Prachi Desai and Ram Kapoor's Zee TV serial Kasamh Se. Ekta Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms produced the show.
In the Indian soap opera Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, she played Gunjan. Roopal appeared as a wildcard participant in the eighth season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa but was eliminated after a week. She was a Bigg Boss 9 competitor who was paired with Digangana Suryavanshi and was eliminated in the second week of voting.
Tyagi received two Zee Rishtey Awards in 2012 for Best Behen as Gunjan and Rachana (Mahima Makwana) and Best Nayi Jodi as Gunjan and Mayank. (Ankit Gera). As Gunjan, she was nominated for Fresh New Face at the Indian Telly Awards in 2013.
Tyagi posted an open letter to her Instagram in 2020, criticising the Indian contingent for undercutting the main female character and the series' "backwardness." "You think you're making a progressive show by making a drama about a 'black' complexion girl, a'short' girl, a 'fat' girl, etc. and their problems. "No," she told the producers.
