The Spice Girls released their multi-platinum-selling sophomore album Spiceworld 25 years ago. The album, which featured big singles like "Spice Up Your Life" and "Stop," helped the band further their rise to pop music superstardom and sold more than 14 million copies worldwide. The Spice Girls are now celebrating 25 years of Spiceworld with a new and enhanced version of the album, 25 years after its initial release.
Spiceworld 25 will combine the original chart-topping tracklist with some of their favourite additional tracks, B-Sides, and some previously unheard recordings pulled from the group's vault, all chosen and curated by the renowned British girl band itself.
"The Spiceworld era was such a great time for us; we'd just had a number one record with Spice, we were touring the globe and getting to know our incredible fans, we published our second album, AND we got our very own movie! Who would have guessed it? The band stated in a statement that it is absurd to imagine that 25 years had passed.
The anniversary release's standout features include live recordings from the Spice Girls' 1998 global tour, a 15-minute party megamix, a new, "ambient" remix of "Viva Forever," and the fan-favorite extra tune "Step To Me," which has been released alongside a brand-new lyric video.
Spiceworld 25 is currently available for pre-order and will be published on November 4. Additionally, there are four other forms available for the special anniversary edition, including a digital deluxe edition, a 2CD and hardback book, a 2LP deluxe edition, a double cassette, a picture disc, and clear vinyl.
The iconic lady group has previously celebrated their legacy. With several special releases in 2021, Mel B, Mel C, Posh, Baby, and Geri pleased fans by celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album Spice and their very first single "Wannabe."
