The Sinhala song "Manike Mage Hithe," released by Sri Lankan artist Yohani in 2021, made him an overnight fame. The video eventually went viral, garnering over 190 million views on YouTube in just three months. And now you can hear the song in the upcoming film Thank God, which stars Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet Singh.
This is Yohani's second foray into Bollywood; she previously sang the theme song for Shiddat (2021). Yohani, Jubin Nautiyal, and Surya Ragunnathan sang the song in Thank God, which was reworked by Tanishk Bagchi and written by Rashmi Virag and features additional rap lyrics by Mellow D.
A reveal of Manike took place earlier today. Visible chemistry between Sidharth and Nora Fatehi, an actor and dancer, is captured in the film. They previously appeared together in the 2019 film Marjaavaan's Ek Toh Kum Zindagani, a remake of the classic song Pyar Do Pyar Lo from the film Janbaaz (1986).
Yohani has said, "The opportunity to remix this song with T-Series for the movie Thank God is an honour and is an incalculable highlight in my career." Yohani was referring to his involvement in the Thank God remake. I've always loved Tanishk Bagchi's music, so getting to work with him was a real thrill. Absolutely, without a doubt, Jubin is one of the most gifted and hip musicians I've ever had the pleasure of collaborating with.
Sidharth is dancing with joy to the hit song and says, "Manike is a fantastic fit in the film because my character is torn between lust and what is right. I'm crossing my fingers that the finished product brings as much delight to viewers as it did to us throughout production.
Nora is excited to be a part of another sexy dance number after turning heads with her moves and oomph in songs like Manohari (Baahubali: The Beginning; 2015), Dilbar (Satyameva Jayate; 2018), and Kamariya (Stree; 2018). I enjoyed working with the whole crew on "Manike," which is a terrific tune. I can't wait to hear people's reactions to the images, the speed, and the dancing in this one! she exclaims.
As Jubin continues to talk about his time working with Yohani, he says, "Manike is one of my favourite songs. Tanishk has given Yohani's already incredible talent a Hollywood spin. Sidharth Malhotra and Nora Fatehi, two very attractive actors, will also be performing.
Thank God is directed by Indra Kumar and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Ashok Thakeria, Sunir Kheterpal, Deepak Mukut, Anand Pandit, and Markand Adhikari for T-Series Films and Maruti International. Yash Shah is a co-producer on this. On October 25, just in time for Diwali, the movie will finally be released.
