Kriti Kharbanda was born on October 29, 1990, in New Delhi, India, to a Punjabi Hindu family. She has two younger siblings: Ishita Kharbanda and Jaiwardhan Kharbanda, the co-founder of Paper Plane Productions. Her family relocated to Bangalore in the early 1990s. After graduating from Baldwin Girls' High School, she went on to attend Bishop Cotton Girls' School, ISC, and finally Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College, a parent institution of Jain University, Bangalore. She has a certificate in jewellery design.
She was very involved in cultural activities in school and college, according to her. As a child, she was also featured in a number of advertisements and she continued modelling while in school/college, stating that she "always loved doing TV commercials". During her college years, she had prominent modelling campaigns for Bhima Jewellers, Spar, and Fair & Lovely. Her photo on a Spar billboard drew the attention of NRI director Raj Pippala, who was looking for a heroine for his film, paving the way for her acting career. She stated that she had no intention of becoming an actress at first and that it was only because of her mother's encouragement that she gave it serious thought.
Early in one's career (2009–2012)
Kharbanda at the 2013 Filmfare Awards South
Kharbanda was cast in the lead role for the Telugu film Boni opposite Sumanth after being seen on a Spar billboard. Boni received negative feedback but received a positive response from Kharbanda. "Kriti was a good choice, and she had no tense moments despite her debut," Sify wrote. "Her looks are stunning, and she has a bright future if she plays her cards right," Rediff.com wrote. She may have to work on her expressions a bit in future, though". Despite the film's box office failure, she landed a prominent role in Pawan Kalyan's Teen Maar. Chirru, her first Kannada film, was her next release. Her performance was mostly well received, with The Times of India writing that she "excels in her performance" and Indiaglitz.com stating that she "is very pretty and her expressions are good". She "looks ravishing in song sequences" and "is good at dancing," according to IANS. The film was a box office success in 2010, and Kharbanda stated that it earned her recognition and "a fair amount of admiration in the industry," leading to her being offered numerous Kannada projects. She did not sign her second Kannada film until October 2011, when she signed up for four films in a single month.
Before Teen Maar, she appeared as a guest star in the popular Telugu romantic comedy Ala Modalaindi in 2011. She appeared in "retro scenes" in Teen Maar where she had to "replicate heroines from the 1970s," and she revealed that she chose the costumes and jewellery she wore in the film. The film was a mediocre box office success. The following year, she appeared in Mr. Nookayya in Telugu alongside Manoj Manchu, and in Prem Adda, a Kannada remake of the Tamil film Subramaniapuram. The actress stated that her fair complexion posed a problem for her as she played a small town girl from the 1980s in the latter film, which featured her in a "completely de-glam" role. She described Girija as the most difficult character she had ever played because it required her to wear no makeup, get a tan, and walk barefoot in order to achieve "a raw look" as the role demanded. She also co-designed the costumes for the film with her mother.
Progression in one's career (2013–2019)
In 2013, Kharbanda had four releases, two in Telugu and two in Kannada. Galaate was her first album. According to the Times of India, Kriti brings her role to life. The Times of India said of her Telugu films, including Bhaskar's Ongole Githa, in which she played a "typical town girl," "Kriti Kharbanda looks cute and does a decent job of holding her own despite playing a character with little scope to do any acting." Her next release was Kalyan Ram's Om 3D, Telugu cinema's first 3D action film; both films did poorly at the box office.

Her Kannada career, on the other hand, took off with the romantic comedy Googly, in which she co-starred with Yash. Critics praised her portrayal of a medical student. According to the Times of India, "Kriti Kharabanda has given life to her character." Sify, in particular, praised Kharbanda, calling her "The heart and soul of the movie...who emerges triumphant on the big screen with some fine acting". The film went on to gross more than 15 crores at the box office, making it one of the highest-grossing Kannada films of 2013. She stated that she received numerous offers following Googly, including two Bollywood projects that she had to turn down due to her commitments to her previously signed films.
In 2014, Kharbanda had three Kannada releases, the first of which was Super Ranga, in which she co-starred with Upendra. Her performance in Super Ranga received positive feedback. "Kriti simply adores the screen with her beauty and in the true sense, the beautiful kick for the audience," wrote Deccan Chronicle. At the 4th South Indian International Movie Awards, she received the Critics' Choice Award for Best Actress, as well as her first Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actress. IB Times stated that she is a treat to watch in her next film, Belli, in which she was paired with Shiva Rajkumar. Tirupati Express, a remake of the Telugu film Venkatadri Express, was her final release of the year. Deccan Chronicle wrote, "Kriti Kharbanda, who has struck hat-trick opportunities after her Googly success, makes another 'beautiful' comeback while filling the much needed glamour quotient."
She was first cast opposite Diganth in Minchagi Nee Baralu in 2015. She received special praise for her performance, with Times of India saying that she's the "biggest plus point of the film". She then played an IAS aspirant in Ram Charan's Telugu film Bruce Lee: The Fighter. For her performance in the film, she was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress - Telugu and a SIIMA Award for Best Supporting Actress - Telugu.
Raaz Reboot, directed by Vikram Bhatt and co-starring Emraan Hashmi, was Kharbanda's Hindi film debut. It was her sole release this year. She had four releases in 2017. She made her Tamil debut in the film Bruce Lee, opposite composer-turned-actor G. V. Prakash Kumar. Critics gave it negative feedback. The same year, she starred in Maasthi Gudi, a Kannada film, alongside Duniya Vijay.
Kharbanda appeared in two Hindi movies. First, she appeared in the comedy drama Guest in London, alongside Kartik Aaryan. "Kartik Aryan and Kriti Kharbanda look good and play the role well," wrote Firstpost. They've also been nicely styled." She then played a PCS officer opposite Rajkummar Rao in the romantic comedy Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana. Her performance was acknowledged. According to Bollywood Hungama, she does a much better job here than in her previous Hindi releases. According to Filmfare, she gave her best performance of her career in the film.
Kharbanda also had four releases in 2018. She first appeared in Karwaan as a cameo. She then starred in the Kannada film Dalapathi alongside Nenapirali Prem. "Kriti Kharbanda looks like a million bucks, and one wonders why we don't see her on screen as often in Kannada films, given how effortlessly she charms the audience," wrote the Times of India. Her next film, Veerey Ki Wedding, starred Pulkit Samrat. According to the Hindustan Times, she is effervescent and beautiful as Geet, but she is hampered by a poorly written script. She fulfils her responsibilities. She then starred alongside Bobby Deol in Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se. "Kriti Kharbanda plays a Gujarati surgeon who loves her booze and should have had her licence revoked a long time ago," the Hindustan Times wrote.
2019 Kharbanda
She appeared in two cast ensembles in 2019. Her first film of the year was the reincarnation comedy Housefull 4, in which she starred alongside Deol and Riteish Deshmukh as Rajkumari Meena and Neha. With a worldwide gross collection of 296 crore, it became her highest-grossing release. According to the Times of India, "Kriti Kharbanda and Pooja Hegde are reduced to being props due to their limited screen time." "Kriti Kharbanda brings freshness to the screen," said the Hindustan Times, but her poor dialogue delivery is distracting. Later that year, she co-starred with Samrat in Anees Bazmee's Pagalpanti. "Of all the heroines, Kriti Kharbanda gets to play an interesting character and she does justice," says Bollywood Hungama.
Most recent work (2020-present)
Bejoy Nambiar's Taish, starring Jim Sarbh and Samrat, was released on ZEE5 in 2020 as a feature film and six-episode series. "Kriti Kharbanda looks stunning and gives an impressive performance," says Bollywood Hungama. "Kriti Kharbanda, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Saloni Batra play three very different women standing at three crucial junctions in their respective lives," writes the Times of India. Kharbanda, as Arfa, is a sucker for love and the livid gang's peacemaker."
In 2021, she starred alongside Vikrant Massey in ZEE5's 14 Phere, directed by Devanshu Singh. The Quint wrote, "Kriti Kharbanda as Aditi, has a very thinly written character sketch, but she manages to be charming throughout." Times of India gave mixed reviews and said, "While Kriti's screen presence is stunning, especially in the bridal and ethnic attires, she fails to match up to the skilled acting of Vikrant. Despite her best efforts to portray a fearless and bold Jatni, she is stuck with a poker face for the majority of the film.

In response, Kharbanda slammed the actress, saying, "Hina Khan is a very big name on television. That is not how you address people. There is no reason to (say such things on national television). It's unfortunate that an actor, especially one of that calibre, is speaking in that manner." She also wanted to slap the actress for making the remark.
