Musical talent and influences

Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Kurt Cobain, and Tycho are among Smith's influences. Smith also looks up to his father, Will Smith, as an inspiration "He began in music before moving on to film. I began with movies and then moved on to music - I look at him and use it as a blueprint for how good of a person he is, but not necessarily for the success that he achieved."

Other business ventures

Smith was described as being "in a league of his own" in terms of fashion and a "superstar who has taken fashion to an entirely different level" by GQ. Smith considers Tyler the Creator, Batman, and Poseidon to be fashion icons. Smith stated that Tyler the Creator introduced him to the Supreme brand. Batman's dark, gothic surroundings have influenced the clothing he has created through his brand MSFTSrep as well as his personal clothing style, with him wearing Batman protective armor to Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's wedding as well as his prom. Hoodies, T-shirts, trousers, and vests are available from MSFTSrep. Smith collaborated with a Korean designer, Choi Bum Suk, in May 2013 to create a pop-up store where customers could buy clothes with their collaborative logos.

Smith sparked outrage in 2016 when she appeared in a Louis Vuitton womenswear campaign wearing a skirt. Smith explained his decision to wear a skirt by saying, "In five years, when a kid goes to school wearing a skirt, he won't get beat up and kids won't get mad at him." Smith continued to dress in women's clothing for the rest of 2016. Smith was the first male model to appear in a Louis Vuitton campaign for women's wear. Smith collaborated with G-Star on a denim collection in 2018.

Smith has been a partner in the spring water company Just Water since he was twelve years old. Just Water is attempting to develop a low-cost water filtration system that can be used in impoverished areas and countries, with the goal of eventually assisting with water infrastructure and developing more environmentally friendly construction methods by producing its own drywall. Just Water officially launched in the United Kingdom on August 27, 2018.

Private life

Will Smith, Smith's father, revealed that his son sought emancipation with the consent of his parents as a gift for his 15th birthday. Will told the media that Smith's primary motivation is to establish his own residence, and that his children are not subject to strict parenting rules: "We don't believe in punishment in general. We would sit Jaden down when he was five or six, and all he had to do was explain why what he did was the right thing for his life." On The Ellen DeGeneres Show on May 15, 2013, Smith and his father appeared together, and Smith said: The thing that people don't get is that everything at his house is free. So I can get anything and everything at his house, so I'll be there for another 20, 30 years. He [Will Smith] says I can get my own house as soon as I make a movie bigger than one of his.

Smith moved out of his parents' house in June 2017 and into a $4 million home in Hidden Hills.

Smith is an avid conspiracy theorist, and his statements frequently spark debate. This includes conspiracy theories about the Illuminati as well as tweets about chemtrails.

Smith sparked outrage in 2013 when he criticized traditional education and advised students to drop out. Smith stated that "kids who go to normal school are so teenagery, so angsty" when discussing teenagers who attend public school.

Smith was in a relationship with Sarah Snyder from 2015 to 2017. Snyder provided inspiration for several songs on Smith's debut album, Syre.
Smith eats only vegetables. He launched a mobile restaurant that serves free vegan dinners to the homeless (but where others pay when they dine). Following a rapid decline in health that resulted in his skin turning gray, his parents staged an intervention due to his vegan lifestyle. He was later diagnosed with celiac disease and lactose intolerance. Smith, however, returned to vegetarianism due to his declining health.

Smith has claimed that rapper Tyler, the Creator is his boyfriend since November 2018. Tyler, who is bisexual, refuted this assertion. Tyler revealed while rapping in the song "NOIZE" on Erys in 2019 that their relationship claims were sarcastic.

Smith has been dubbed a non-binary icon for his work challenging traditional gender roles in popular media. He frequently appears in gender-fluid clothing, such as dresses, skirts, and high heels. In 2016, he drew attention for his Vogue Korea editorial by wearing traditionally female attire: a black skirt, blue nail polish, and a flower in his hair. He has made public statements such as "If I Want To Wear A Dress, Then I Will, And That Will Set The New Wave...". Smith is quoted as saying that he wanted to wear skirts so that kids would be less bullied in school.

Smith became the victim of an online death hoax in 2023 after Facebook posts and YouTube videos claimed he had died. According to posts on various social media platforms, Will Smith publicly announced the death of his son. As a result, fans began to wonder whether or not the younger Smith had died. Many of the posts were obviously fabricated, as they claimed Jaden was only 15 years old.
