Imogen Gay Poots (born 3 June 1989) is a model and actress from England. She starred as Tammy in the post-apocalyptic horror film 28 Weeks Later (2007), Linda Keith in the Jimi Hendrix biopic Jimi: All Is by My Side (2013), Debbie Raymond in the Paul Raymond biopic The Look of Love (2013), and Julia Maddon in the American action film Need for Speed (2013). (2014). In 2014, she co-starred with Pierce Brosnan and Aaron Paul in A Long Way Down as Jesse Crichton. She portrayed Kelly Ann in the Showtime series Roadies in 2016. She starred as Laura in the Academy Award-winning film The Father (2020), alongside Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman.

Poots was born in Hammersmith, London, at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital, the daughter of Trevor Poots, a current affairs television producer from Belfast, and Fiona Goodall, a journalist and volunteer worker from Bolton. Her older brother, Alex, is also a model.

Poots grew up in Chiswick, West London, and went to Bute House Preparatory School for Girls in Brook Green, Queen's Gate School in South Kensington, and Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith. She began attending an improvisation workshop hosted by the Young Blood Theatre Company at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith on Saturdays while studying to be a veterinary surgeon. She changed her mind about her original career goal after fainting at the sight of veterinary surgery during a work experience. She won a place at the Courtauld Institute of Art in 2008 after receiving three A grades at A-level, but she had it deferred for two years in order to pursue her acting career.

Poots made her screen debut in a 2004 episode of Casualty and had a non-speaking role in V for Vendetta in 2005, but she was largely unknown when, at the age of 17, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo cast her in the horror film 28 Weeks Later, which was released in 2007. She has since appeared in films such as Cracks in 2009, Centurion in 2010, and the 2011 remake of Fright Night alongside Anton Yelchin. Although Poots has never received formal acting training, according to Giles Hattersley, she developed her acting skills through a practical apprenticeship, which may have served her well, as she is "compellingly natural" in front of the camera.

Chloé chose her to appear in a campaign for its eponymous fragrance shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin in 2011. She was chosen to star in a Sofia Coppola-directed advertising campaign for a collaboration between fashion label Marni and high-street retailer H&M in 2012.

Poots starred in A Late Quartet with Catherine Keener and Philip Seymour Hoffman as the acrimonious young violinist Alexandra Gelbart. In 2013, she starred in Greetings from Tim Buckley, Filth, and The Look of Love, and she played Linda Keith in Jimi: All Is by My Side, alongside André Benjamin as Hendrix. Poots appeared in the romantic comedy That Awkward Moment, the action film Need for Speed, an adaptation of the video game series Need for Speed, and the black comedy A Long Way Down in 2014. She co-starred in She's Funny That Way with Jennifer Aniston and Knight of Cups with Cate Blanchett in 2015, and has since been cast in the adaptation of Jess Walter's novel Beautiful Ruins and reunited with Yelchin in Green Room. She portrayed Kelly Ann in the Showtime series Roadies in 2016.

In 2017, she starred as Honey in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, which was broadcast live on National Theatre Live from the Harold Pinter Theatre in London's West End on May 18, 2017. Poots also appeared in Amy Herzog's play Belleville at the Donmar Warehouse that year, opposite James Norton.

Since 2018, Poots has been in a relationship with actor James Norton. They will be married in 2022.
