Ella Hunt (born 29 April 1998) is a singer and actress from England. She received a Scottish BAFTA nomination for her performance in the film Anna and the Apocalypse (2017). She is best known for her roles as Ellie Marsden in ITV's comedy-drama Cold Feet (2016-2017) and Sue Gilbert in Apple TV+'s Dickinson (2019–2021).
Early years
Hunt grew up on a farm in Parracombe, North Devon, near Barnstaple, to sculptor and actress Louise Hunt and art dealer David Grob. On one side, she is of Swiss descent. She has three older half-siblings from her father's first marriage, as well as an older brother William and a younger brother Arthur.
Hunt went to Millfield Preparatory School in Somerset before moving on to Blundell's School in Tiverton. At the age of 11, she was discovered by an agent while performing in a school production at Millfield.
Career
Hunt began her career as a child actress, appearing in Intruders in 2011, Les Misérables in 2012, and Robot Overlords in 2014. In 2016, she made her television debut as Ellie Marsden in the ITV series Cold Feet, alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones as her twin Olivia.
Hunt played Anna Shepherd in the 2018 film Anna and the Apocalypse, for which she was nominated for a Scottish BAFTA and won an ensemble award at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival. She also appeared in the 2019 film Summer Night and the 2020 film Kat and the Band as Kat Malone. Hunt was cast as Sue Gilbert in the 2019 Apple TV+ period drama Dickinson in 2018.
Hunt released her first single, "Magpie," in April 2020. Hunt released the single "Holding On" in November 2021, followed by the EP Triptych a month later.
Hunt made her professional stage debut as Alice in the 2022 production of Closer at Hammersmith's Lyric Theatre, alongside Jack Farthing, Sam Troughton, and Nina Toussaint-White.
Hunt divides her time between Islington, London, and Brooklyn Heights, New York. She came out as gay in March 2021. She is now involved with Thomas Bartlett.
