Anna Volodymyrivna Sedokova (born December 16, 1982) is a Ukrainian singer, actress, and TV host. Sedokova rose to notoriety in 2002 as a member of the pop girl group Nu Virgos, also known as VIA Gra in the CIS nations, where she was known as Anya (н). Following two years in the group's "golden line-up," she pursued a solo music career in 2006. The singer launched a series of songs before releasing her debut album, Lichnoe, in 2016 to commercial success, peaking at number two in Russia.
Concurrently with her singing career, Sedokova rose to prominence as an actress and television presenter in Ukrainian and Russian projects. She now resides in Los Angeles, California, with her three children.
Anna Sedokova's parents divorced when she was young and relocated from Tomsk, Russian SFSR. Her birthplace is Kiev (now Kyiv, Ukraine). She had a childhood interest in music and dance, and when she was 17, she enrolled in Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, where she pursued her studies while also hosting television shows.
Career
Her first TV gig was as a news anchor for the music channel OTV. She has worked on three TV shows at the age of 18: NEWS BLOK, Fashionable Life, and The Big Sunday News Digest. In 2001, she passed an audition for the Novyi Kanal (New Channel) morning show Podjem ("Waking up"), which had the greatest ratings in the country. She was a part of the Nu Virgos pop group from 2002 to 2004.
She appeared in two films: Cinderella and The Evenings on the Homestead, both based on Gogol's novel. Her part in The Tunguska Meteorite in 2006 was a watershed moment for her, and in 2008 she appeared in The Power of Attraction.
Sedokova also began a solo singing career. Her first video for the song "My Heart" topped the charts and earned her an Audience Appreciation Award at the 5 STARS Sotchi Music Festival. She then made videos for her songs "The Very Best Girl" and "I Am Getting Used." Both videos were enormously popular in Russia and Ukraine. But Sedokova was not going anywhere. In 2008, Ukraine aired TVStar Superstar, the most expensive show in the country's history. Every Sunday, Sedokova participated in a three-hour live broadcast with 400 other people.
Elle named Sedokova the greatest TV host in the country in 2009. Sedokova's television career progressed, and she became one of the faces of Channel One, the world's largest Russian-language channel. She also hosted the show King of the Ring. Sedokova hosted The New Songs About the Most Important Thing, a large live performance including the country's top 50 performers. She also appeared on the series Two Stars and Stars on Ice, where she thrilled the audience with a well-received artistic performance. These programs drew tens of millions of viewers and were the most popular programmes on Russian television.
Sedokova hosted Project Runway Russia in 2011. The Pregnant, which starred Sedokova, was also a big hit in 2011. The Art of Seduction, Sedokova's debut book, is still a best-seller in Russia. The content of this book should come as no surprise to her audience; Sedokova has received the "Sexiest Female Award" as well as the "Most Beloved Star" honor (given to a star who is popular with people of all ages and genders) for numerous years in a row. She was also named "Russia's Most Desirable Female Performer."
In 2014, the singer was chastised in Ukraine for accepting accolades in Russia, despite the fact that many Ukrainians believed their country was a victim of Russian aggression.
Personal life
In 2004, Sedokova married Belarusian footballer Valyantsin Byalkevich. Their daughter Alina was born on December 8, just a few months after their marriage. Because of his infidelity, the couple split in 2006. From February 2011 to February 2013, Sedokova was married to businessman Maxim Chernyavsky; the couple had one daughter, Monika. Sedokova married Artyom Komarov (Russian: ртм oмаров), a Russian businessman and the father of her third child, a son Hector, in May 2017. Sedokova confirmed the end of her relationship with Komarov in August 2017. She will marry for the third time in September 2020, to Latvian professional basketball player Jnis Timma.
During an online meeting with users of the Ukrainian portal tochka.net in December 2010, Sedokova came out as bisexual. Later, in an interview with Novyi Kanal, she confirmed it, calling her sexual experiences with her female partners "wonderful."
Sedokova criticized the Russian Federation's State Duma's so-called "gay propaganda" law in 2013. In an interview with the Russian radio station Echo of Moscow, the singer expressed confusion at the bill's ambiguous wording, asking, "What is propaganda?" Sedokova further remarked that the writers and proponents of the law "have no right to tell someone else whom to love and what to do."
