In an interview with Samina Peerzada on the talk show Rewind, Aziz stated that she comes from a middle-class family and that after finishing her A levels, she enrolled in IBA Karachi and was suspended for three years after being caught cheating. She discussed the flaws in the local education system, which is primarily based on rote learning. Despite the huge setback, she persisted and applied to another institution, Lahore University of Management Sciences, where she was accepted with a 75% scholarship. She also received a full scholarship to a university in Michigan, USA, where she completed her undergraduate degree in Business and Economics.

- Since childhood, Komal was fond of reading books. She loved reading and learning new things and was always the toper of the class.
- After completing her O level and A level, Komal decided to pursue a bachelors degree in business management for which she was determined to get herself enrolled at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). But due to her bad results in the entrance exam, she missed the opportunity to study there and hence got herself enrolled at the ‘Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi. According to Komal, She was not able to adjust to the atmosphere at the IBA. She observed her fellow students cramming on the business subject which was very disturbing to her.
