Jeon rose to prominence as the lead actress in the independent film After My Death (2018), for which she received the Actress of the Year Award at the 22nd Busan International Film Festival and the Independent Star Award at the 2017 Seoul Independent Film Festival. Jeon's career is on the rise following her appearances in the television series Vincenzo (2021) and the crime action film Night in Paradise (2021).

Jeon discovered her talent for acting while studying Broadcast Entertainment at Dongduk Women's University. After seeing her in a trailer for the Seoul International Women's Film Festival, actress and director Moon So-ri contacted her to appear in the short film The Best Director, she began acting five years later.
Jeon made her film debut in the period drama The Treacherous in 2015. In the 2017 thriller TV series Save Me, Jeon played an undercover journalist investigating a religious cult. After her performance in After My Death (2018), Jeon rose to prominence and received numerous awards, including Best New Actress at the 56th Grand Bell Awards, Actress of the Year at the 22nd Busan International Film Festival, and Independent Star Award at the 2017 Seoul Independent Film Festival.

Jeon's signing with J.Wide-Company was announced on July 2, 2018.
Jeon will appear in the crime action film Night in Paradise in September 2020. She co-starred in the tvN television series Vincenzo with Song Joong-ki in February 2021. Jeon was cast in Netflix's upcoming series Glitch on March 15, 2021. She will play a woman who is searching for her missing boyfriend. She signed with Management MMM on July 12, 2021, after her contract with J.Wide Company expired.
