Actress and musician Aubrey Shea Peeples was born in the United States on November 27, 1993. She gained notoriety for her portrayal as Layla Grant in the ABC drama Nashville. She plays Margot, a bipolar lady coming to grips with her mental health, in Kit Williamson's upcoming series Unconventional. She also directed the Hulu pilot Search & Destroy based on Carrie Brownstein's band Sleater-Kinney. In the 2015 musical fantasy film Jem and the Holograms, Peeples portrayed the main character. Peeples has appeared in Grey's Anatomy, Austin & Ally, Burn Notice, Drop Dead Diva, and Burn Notice as a guest star. She also had a recurring part in Necessary Roughness. In the second season of the ABC drama series Nashville, she was cast in a significant recurring role as Layla Grant, a rising country star and the runner-up in a reality singing competition. Later, she was elevated to regular status for the fourth season of Nashville. When Nashville shifted to CMT, Peeples did not return for the fifth season of the program.
Peeples was chosen to play the title role in the 2014 romantic musical fantasy comedy-drama film Jem and the Holograms, which is based on the same-named 1980s television program. In the same year, Peeples co-starred with Nicolas Cage in the crime drama Rage. Peeples was recognized by Indiewire in September 2014 as one of the top young actors.
