Netflix unveiled a fresh Pinocchio behind-the-scenes featurette as a part of their Tudum special event. The release date for this breathtaking stop-motion animated feature, which we previously posted the first trailer for, is still slated for December on Netflix. GdT updates Carlo Collodi's well-known story about the wooden marionette who is miraculously brought to life in order to console the bereaved Geppetto the woodcarver. In search of a place in the world, Pinocchio embarks on a series of mischievous and rebellious experiences, which are chronicled in this musical. Featuring an all-star voice cast led by Ewan McGregor as Cricket, David Bradley as Geppetto, and Gregory Mann as Pinocchio, the film was directed by del Toro and Mark Gustafson. This brief includes various scale models that Guillermo appears excited to display as well as some of the animation and character creation process. I completely agree with him that stop-motion has a mystical quality to it that other VFX cannot match. It has a very unique quality.

The director of Cronos, Mimic, The Devil's Backbone, Blade II, Hellboy I & II, Pan's Labyrinth, Crimson Peak, The Shape of Water, and Nightmare Alley, as well as numerous producing jobs and other projects, is responsible for Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio. Mark Gustafson co-directed the film. Guillermo del Toro, Matthew Robbins, Patrick McHale, and Gris Grimly wrote the screenplay. based on Carlo Collodi's original "Pinocchio" tale.
