Tyler Garcia-Posey (born October 18, 1991) is a musician and actor from the United States. In his early years, he appeared in a number of children's film and television roles, for which he was nominated twice for a Young Artist Award. He was best known for his roles in Doc (2001-2004) as Raul Garcia and Maid in Manhattan as Ty Ventura (2002). As an adult, he is best known for his role as Scott McCall in the MTV series Teen Wolf (2011-2017), though he has since been cast in a number of film roles and voice acting roles. In late 2011 and early 2012, he won several youth acting awards, including a Teen Choice Award, and was nominated for many more. He was a member of the band Lost in Kostko, which he co-founded in 2009.

Posey was born to Cyndi Terese Garcia and actor-writer John Posey in Santa Monica, California. He was raised in Santa Clarita, California. Posey is the younger of two brothers. On his mother's side, he is of Mexican descent.

Posey has a steady career in film and television. He appeared in the film Collateral Damage in February 2002, and in the romantic comedy Maid in Manhattan in December of the same year. In 2007, he auditioned for the role of Jacob Black in the Twilight film series, but was passed over by his friend Taylor Lautner. As child actors, the two frequently auditioned for the same roles.

Posey also appeared in the pilot episode of the Disney original cartoon SheZow, which aired on May 4 as part of the Shorty McShorts' Shorts miniseries. He co-starred in the 2012 film White Frog. Posey made his breakthrough as the lead in the MTV television series Teen Wolf, which is based on the 1985 film, in 2011. Posey portrays Scott McCall, a high school student who is bitten by a werewolf and must keep this fact hidden while protecting his loved ones from a slew of supernatural threats and beings. He also co-produced the fifth season of Teen Wolf in 2015.

Posey was cast as Lucas Moreno in the Blumhouse supernatural thriller film Truth or Dare on May 24, 2017. On April 13, 2018, the film was released in theaters.

Posey was cast as Shane in the third season of the VH1 slasher television series Scream, which premiered on September 25, 2017. The season began on July 8, 2019.

On February 20, 2019, it was announced that Posey would play Michael Emerson in The CW's The Lost Boys reboot series. On July 29, 2019, it was announced that The CW was dissatisfied with the pilot and that Posey, along with the majority of the remaining cast, would be recast.
Posey was cast as the lead in Netflix's animated Fast & Furious television series Fast & Furious: Spy Racers, which premiered on December 26, 2019.

In September 2021, Paramount+ announced that a Teen Wolf reunion film had been ordered, with Jeff Davis returning as a screenwriter and executive producer. Posey and the majority of the original cast members were set to reprise their roles, with Posey also serving as a producer. The movie came out on January 26, 2023.

Other assignments

Posey fronted and played guitar in the band Disappearing Jamie, formerly Lost in Kostko. In 2012, they made their debut at The Roxy in Los Angeles. In 2011, Lost in Kostko released their eight-track EP You're Going to Need a Towel. On July 17, 2013, Posey announced the band's breakup via Instagram.

Posey performed as a guest DJ at Emo Nite LA's second anniversary at the Echoplex in Los Angeles in December 2016.

Posey was a member of the pop punk band PVMNTS, along with guitarist/bassist/vocalist Freddy Ramirez and drummer Nick Guzman. On June 14, 2018, the trio released the song "Standing (On My Own Two Feet)," which Posey wrote about his mother's death in 2014. On August 17, 2018, the band self-released their six-track EP Better Days. Posey left the band in April 2019 to pursue another musical venture, which evolved into the band Five North.

Posey and Kyle Murphy, childhood best friends, formed the pop-punk rock band Five North. Posey and Murphy are from Santa Clarita, California, just off "The 5" (Interstate 5 in California), hence the band's name Five North. After being introduced by music producer and close friend John Feldmann, the two hired Makeout drummer Scott Eckel. Five North's debut single "This Mess" was released on October 4, 2019, and their debut eight-track EP Scumbag was released by Big Noise Music Group on March 6, 2020.

Posey appeared in the music video for "Broke," a song by UK pop-punk band the Bottom Line, whom Posey met while touring the UK with them in 2018 during his time in PVMNTS.

Personal life

In 2013, Posey married his childhood sweetheart, Seana Gorlick. After a ten-year relationship, the couple called it quits on their engagement that same year.

Cyndi Terese Garcia, Posey's mother, died of breast cancer in December 2014. Teen Wolf's fifth season was dedicated to her memory.

Posey revealed in an October 2020 interview that he began smoking marijuana at the age of 12 and became addicted to it. Posey stated at the time that he had been sober for 71 days. Posey announced in March 2021 that he was no longer sober, but that he had learned a lot from his sobriety experience.

Posey also revealed in October 2020 that he has "hooked up" with men and does not like to label his sexuality. Posey stated during an interview on Sirius XM, "I was overcome with the desire to come out and be honest about it. I know a lot of kids look up to me, and I want to change that." Posey came out as queer and sexually fluid in July 2021.
