He is best known for his action franchises Baaghi, Heropanti (2014), and War (2019). Since 2018, he has appeared on Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list.
He made his film debut in 2014 with the action romantic film Heropanti, which was a commercial success and earned him several awards, including the Stardust Awards for Superstar of Tomorrow - Male and the IIFA Awards for Star Debut of the Year - Male.
Matrix Fight Night, a mixed martial arts promotion, was founded by him in 2019. (MFN). It had held ten live events in India and the UAE as of February 2023. This promotion is co-founded and owned by his mother. MFN is widely regarded as India's largest MMA promotion.
Early years
On March 2, 1990, Jai Hemant Shroff was born to Indian film actor Jackie Shroff and his wife Ayesha Shroff (née Dutt). Krishna Shroff is his younger sister. He is of Gujarati and Turkmen ancestry on his father's side, and Bengali and Belgian ancestry on his mother's side.
Shroff is a devout Hindu devotee of Lord Shiva, and he attributes his physical appearance to him. Every Monday and during the Mahashivaratri festival, he fasts. He went to the American School of Bombay.
He has frequently spent time helping other actors train for films due to his martial arts experience. He received an honorary fifth degree black belt in Taekwondo in 2014.
Career
Early in one's career (2012–2017)
Shroff was signed by producer Sajid Nadiadwala in June 2012 to make his film debut in Sabbir Khan's action romantic comedy Heropanti. He trained in flexibility under Ziley Mawai to prepare for the role. Heropanti, which was released on May 23, 2014, and had a final budget of 250 million Indian rupees, was a commercial success, grossing $780 million (US$9.8 million) worldwide and becoming an HIT film. He was praised for his dancing abilities, action sequences, tough physique, and ability to perform onerous stunts, but he was also chastised for his acting, appearance, and dialogue delivery. According to Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama, "Tiger registers an impact in several sequences" and "scores brownie points in action and stunts." According to Adarsh, "for a first-timer, he exudes supreme confidence." Subhash K. Jha praised his versatility, saying, "he emotes, he dances, and yes, he can fight." Sweta Kaushal of the Hindustan Times, on the other hand, disagreed, calling his "dialogues forced" and saying "his expressions do nothing in a given situation." Despite calling his performance "a little unconvincing," Kaushal praised his action sequences and described him as a "great dancer." Shroff's performance earned him a Screen Award for Best Male Debut, an IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year - Male, and a nomination in the same category at the 60th Filmfare Awards.
His album "Zindagi Aa Raha Hoon Main" was released in 2015, and it was a huge success. Ahmed Khan directed the film, which starred Atif Aslam. Shroff's dancing abilities were praised in the album.
Shroff reteamed with Nadiadwala and Sabbir in Baaghi (2016), which is set in a martial arts school and also stars Shraddha Kapoor and Sudheer Babu. Baaghi was his first big hit, earning 1.29 billion rupees (US$16 million) in global markets. Tiger Shroff has received accolades for his actions, stunts, and tough physique. "The action Tiger performed without the use of double body is delight to see," Bollywood Hungama said of his action sequences. That year, he also played a martial arts teacher who gains superpowers in Remo D'Souza's superhero film A Flying Jatt, alongside Jacqueline Fernandez. Shroff collaborated with Sabbir for the third time in 2017, in the dance film Munna Michael, opposite Nidhhi Agerwal. However, both A Flying Jatt and Munna Michael were box office flops.
Recognition and establishment (2018–present)
Shroff established himself in the industry in 2018 with Ahmed Khan's Baaghi 2, a spiritual sequel to Baaghi and the second installment of the Baaghi Film Series, opposite Disha Patani. The film, produced by Nadiadwala, starred him as a rebellious army officer on a mission to find his ex-missing girlfriend's daughter. Baaghi 2 outperformed initial projections, grossing $1.65 billion (US$21 million) net domestically in India and over $2.58 billion (US$32 million) worldwide to become one of the year's highest-grossing Bollywood films.
Tiger Shroff's album "Get Ready to Move" was released in 2018 following the success of Baaghi 2. The album was also a success.
Shroff made his mainstream debut in Punit Malhotra's teen drama Student of the Year 2 in 2019. It was the sequel to Student of the Year, produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, and starred Shroff as a college student competing in an annual school championship. News18's Rajeev Masand called his performance "the film's singular strength." According to Ronak Kotecha of The Times of India, "Tiger Shroff pretty much carries the film on his well-toned shoulders." The film performed reasonably well, grossing $982 million worldwide. Despite having higher expectations, the film was a success overall.
Shroff co-starred in Siddharth Anand's action thriller War with Hrithik Roshan in October 2019. The film was the highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year, Shroff's highest-grossing release at the time, and one of Tiger Shroff's biggest blockbuster films. The total amount collected for war was 4.75 billion Indian rupees (US$63 million), with 3.18 billion Indian rupees collected nett in India. War set a new record for the highest opening-day collection by a Bollywood film in India, with over 53.35 crore Indian rupees. The film became the highest-grossing Indian film of 2019 and one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time, with a massive box office and blockbuster success.
In March 2020, he co-starred with Shraddha Kapoor in the third installment of the Baaghi film series, titled Baaghi 3. Although theaters were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film managed to become the highest first day opener and second highest grosser of 2020, with a worldwide collection of 1.37 billion (US$17 million) and a first day collection of 0.175 billion (US$2.2 million).
After a one-year hiatus, Shroff returned in April 2022 to star in Ahmed Khan's directing and his 2014 debut action film sequel Heropanti 2, where he reunited with Tara Sutaria. It received negative feedback from both critics and the audience. The film eventually bombed at the box office. "Despite lavish production value and fantastic stunts by Shroff, Heropanti 2 suffers from a poor storyline," wrote Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama. Heropanti 2 grossed Rs. 29.11 crore in India and Rs. 35.13 crore worldwide.
He was supposed to play Rambo in the Hindi reboot of the Rambo franchise, which was to be directed by Siddharth Anand. Since 2017, the project has been postponed.
Tiger Shroff will now play a pivotal role in Vikas Bahl's Ganapath - Part 1, an Indian/Bollywood Action Thriller Film starring Kriti Sanon and Amitabh Bachchan. The film will be released on October 20, 2023, on the occasion of Dussehra. Ganapath is currently planned as a multi-part project. He will also appear in Ali Abbas Zafar's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which will be released on Christmas 2023, alongside Akshay Kumar and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Other assignments
Shroff was appointed Brand Ambassador and co-owner of Bengaluru Tigers, which is owned by 8K Miles Media Group, in 2017. The Bengaluru Tigers finished third in the inaugural season of the Super Fight League, India's first mixed martial arts (MMA) league. Shroff was also named Prowl's Brand Ambassador in 2018. He also serves as a brand ambassador for major companies such as Pepsi, ASICS India, Casio India, 8PM Premium Black, Macho, Garnier, Forca, Great White Electronic, and many others.

Some Lesser Known Facts About Tiger Shroff
As the Lord of destruction and creator of the tandav, He inspires me to leave nothing and give everything. And that mentality is what inspires me when I do an action sequence or perform on stage. When He dances, he burns everything around him. When I do an action sequence or dance, I do the same with energy, passion, and all my focus. Those are His traits that I try to imbibe. And so, I see him as the original action star.”
