Suzu Hirose (, Hirose Suzu, born 19 June 1998) is a Japanese model and actor. Despite her youth, she is widely considered as one of Japan's most promising young actors.

Biography

Hirose made her modeling debut alongside her sister Alice for the Japanese fashion magazine Seventeen. She rose to prominence after co-starring in the award-winning film Our Little Sister with a bunch of other actresses. At the 39th Japan Academy Film Prize, the film was named Picture of the Year. Her performance in the film earned her the title of Newcomer of the Year at the same awards. In addition, the picture was chosen to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2015 Cannes picture Festival.

Hirose starred in the critically acclaimed film The Third Murder in 2017. She was named Best Supporting Actress in the 41st Japan Academy Film Prize for her performance, and the film was named Picture of the Year at the same ceremony. The film was also shown in the 74th Venice International Film Festival's main competition section.

She was cast as the main character in the live-action trilogy films Chihayafuru, which were box office triumphs. She was nominated twice in the Japan Academy Film Prize for Outstanding Performance By An Actress in a Leading Role for her roles in Chihayafuru Part 1 in the 40th Japan Academy Film Prize and Not Quite Dead Yet in the 44th Japan Academy Film Prize.

Hirose starred as the heroine in Natsuzora (Summer Sky), NHK's 100th Asadora. Since 2013, she has starred in numerous advertisements and has consistently topped various polls for celebrities with the most endorsements. Hirose has also appeared in a number of television dramas, including Kait Yamaneko (2016) and Nemesis (2021).

For her part in the film A Morning of Farewell, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 45th Japan Academy Film Prize.
