Siddhant Chaturvedi (born 29 April 1993) is an Indian film actor who works primarily in Hindi. From 2017 to 2019, he starred as a teen cricketer in the Amazon Prime Video web series Inside Edge, and in 2019, he made his film debut as a street rapper in the musical drama Gully Boy, for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. He later appeared in the romantic drama Gehraiyaan (2022).
Early years
Chaturvedi was born in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh on April 29, 1993, and moved to Mumbai when he was five years old. His father works as a chartered accountant, and his mother stays at home. He attended Mumbai's Mithibai College and initially aspired to be a chartered accountant (CA), while also acting on stage as a hobby. He became disillusioned with his CA articleship and took some time off, during which he participated in and won The Times of India's Fresh Face Contest in 2013.
Career
Chaturvedi starred in the web television sitcom Life Sahi Hai, about four male roommates, in 2016. The following year, he began starring in the Amazon Prime Video series Inside Edge as Prashant Kanaujia, a teenage cricketer inspired by the Indian Premier League. Devarsi Ghosh, writing for Scroll.in, called Chaturvedi and his co-star Tanuj Virwani the show's "two big acting discoveries." He later returned for the second season in 2019.
At an Inside Edge success party, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, whose brother Farhan Akhtar produced the show, spotted Chaturvedi and asked him to audition for her next directorial Gully Boy (2019), which marked his film debut and proved to be his breakout role. Chaturvedi appeared in the film alongside Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt as MC Sher, a street rapper who fuels Ranveer Singh's titular character's ambitions. Variety's Jay Weissberg called Chaturvedi's performance "impressive," and Rajeev Masand praised his "charming presence." He received the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor, as well as a nomination for Best Male Debut, at the annual Filmfare Awards ceremony.
Chaturvedi next appeared in Yash Raj Films' Bunty Aur Babli 2 (2021), a sequel to the crime comedy Bunty Aur Babli, alongside Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, and Sharvari Wagh (2005). It turned out to be a critical and commercial failure. He co-starred with Deepika Padukone and Ananya Panday in Shakun Batra's Gehraiyaan (2022), a drama about infidelity. It was made available on Amazon Prime Video. Rediff.com's Sukanya Verma found his portrayal of a "tricky part" to be "compelling." He then starred alongside Katrina Kaif and Ishaan Khatter in the comedy horror film Phone Bhoot. The film received mixed reviews, but NDTV's Saibal Chatterjee thought Chaturvedi played his "brash and quick-on-the-draw" character well.
Chaturvedi will next be seen in the action film Yudhra alongside Malavika Mohanan, and in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan alongside Ananya Panday and Adarsh Gourav.
Media
Chaturvedi was ranked No. 19 in The Times Most Desirable Men in 2019, and No. 15 in 2020.

I struggled for six years and there were many rejections and low points along the way. I started from the bottom. But I always had this raging ambition to go out there and prove myself with that one perfect opportunity. I always used to think ‘ki apna time kab ayega’. And as luck would have it, Zoya had been looking for MC Sher for a year and I happened to be there at the right time.”
