Ravi Dubey (born December 23, 1983) is an Indian actor, model, TV host, and producer. He began his acting career in 2006 with a parallel lead role in the show Stree Teri Kahaani, and he was followed by roles in less successful shows such as Doli Saja Ke (2007) and Yahan Ke Hum Sikandar (2007), before starring in the popular family drama shows Saas Bina Sasural (2010) and Jamai Raja (2014), which established him as one of the most popular and leading actors in the Indian television industry. He also appeared on Nach Baliye 5 (2012) and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 8 (2012). (2017).

Early years

Dubey was born in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, and raised in New Delhi, India. Sh. is his father. Gyan Prakash Dubey is a Civil Engineer by training and has held senior positions in many real estate organizations in the Delhi/NCR region.

Dubey moved to Mumbai from Delhi to study telecom engineering, but he soon began modeling.

Career

debut performance (2006-09)

Dubey began his career as a model, then moved on to acting in 2006, when he played Ravi Agarwal in the DD National television show Stree... Teri Kahaani is a film produced by Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu. Later, he played the minor character "Veer" in Sahara One's soap opera Doli Saja Ke. Following that, he appeared as the male lead in Yahan Ke Hum Sikandar, playing Ravi.

Dubey has worked on television commercials for Reliance, TVS Victor, Mrs. Marino, Gee Pee Mobile, Nestle, ICICI, Action Milano Shoes, Fairever, Santro, and Water Kingdom, among others.

Dubey took over for Vinay Rohrra as the male lead in Zee TV's Ranbir Rano in December 2008. Dubey was cast opposite Sargun Mehta in Zee TV's soap opera 12/24 Karol Bagh after the show ended.

Breakthrough and achievement (2010–14)

Dubey played Tej Prakash Chaturvedi, the male lead in Sony Entertainment Television's romantic/drama show Saas Bina Sasural, opposite Aishwarya Sakhuja in October 2010. Dubey began his film career in Bollywood while working on the show; he signed for Aron Govil's 2011 Hindi film U R My Jaan.
Dubey appeared in Sony Entertainment Television's reality-based comedy series Comedy Circus titled Kahani Comedy Circus Ki in January 2012. "I am super excited because I have always loved the show, and I have never had the opportunity to try my hand at comedy, which I believe is the most difficult of all," Dubey said.

Dubey and Sargun Mehta appeared in the fifth season of Star Plus television's celebrity couple dance reality show Nach Baliye in December 2012. And on March 23, 2013, in the finale episode, he became the show's first runner-up. In 2013, Dubey appeared in another of Nach Baliye's celebrity couple dance reality series, Nach Baliye Shriman v/s Shrimati.

In May 2013, Dubey took over as host of Star Plus television's dance reality show India's Dancing Superstar, replacing Mohit Malhotra.

He was approached in September 2013 for the lead role of Rajbir in Rashmi Sharma's show Desh Ki Beti Nandini, but he declined. Dubey has also appeared in the Indian Television Academy's Fashion Ka Jalwa runway show with Shweta Salve.

Jamai Raja and continued success (2014–present)

In March 2014, Dubey was cast as the male lead in Zee TV's soap opera Jamai Raja, in which he plays Siddharth "Sid" Khurana opposite Nia Sharma, in a show produced by Akshay Kumar and co-produced by Ashvini Yardi under their own production banner, Grazing Goat Pictures.

Dubey and Shabbir Ahluwalia co-hosted the Zee Rishtey Awards, a Zee television award show, in December 2014.

In 2017, Dubey competed in the eighth season of Colors stunt reality show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 8, finishing as the second runner-up to Shantanu Maheshwari, the winner, and Hina Khan, the first runner-up.

Dubey appeared as a contestant on Colors' comedy show Entertainment Ki Raat in November 2017, alongside Dipika Kakar and Asha Negi. He also appeared on the Star Plus reality show Lip Sing Battle with his wife Sargun Mehta, Rithvik Dhanjani, and Asha Negi.

Ravi hosted the Colors singing reality show Rising Star in January 2018. He also hosted the Star Plus game show Sabse Smart Kaun in June 2018. Dubey replaced Aditya Narayan as the host of Zee TV's seventh season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs in February 2019.

Ravi has hosted the Zee Rishtey Awards in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2019.

He made his digital debut alongside Nia Sharma with the web series Jamai 2.0, a reboot of his Zee TV show Jamai Raja. The series started off well. The second season was released in February 2021 to positive reviews. He is currently a lead actor in the popular web series MatsyaKaand on mxplayer, which is one of India's highest rated and most watched web series. In 2019, he co-founded Dreamiyata Entertainment Pvt Ltd with his wife Sargun Mehta and co-produced several films. Dreamiyata Entertainment produced the Colors TV television series Udaariyaan in March 2021.

Private life

On December 7, 2013, Dubey married actress Sargun Mehta.

Dubey is a Buddhist follower of Nichiren Daishonin.

"I started following it (Buddhism) when I was going through a very rough patch in my life and I wanted some understanding of the chaos that was going on in one's life. I wanted to align myself and feel better about myself, so when things got out of control, I started chanting at that time," he explained.

Physical Transformations• In July 2021, through a social media post, he shared his one-month physical transformation during which he lost 10 kgs of his body weight. According to Dubey, he achieved the feat without any supplements or protein shakes. He further added that the transformation was for a role for which he had to look lean.
