Early years

He enrolled in an advertising program at Apeejay Institute of Design in Delhi. He did, however, receive a modeling assignment after studying for five months. He then dropped out of school and relocated to Mumbai, where he enrolled in an acting class taught by Kishore Namit Kapoor.
Career
A career in television (2006-2008)
Samrat moved to Mumbai in 2005 and made his acting debut in 2006 with Balaji Telefilms' long-running television show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. He starred as Laksh Virani alongside Mouni Roy and Tia Bajpai. This earned him his first award, the Indian Telly Award for Fresh New Face - Male, for his performance. In 2007, Samrat left the show.
He made his final television appearance in 2008 as a contestant on Kaho Na Yaar Hai with Roy. Samrat played the lead in Vaibhavi Merchant's musical theatrical Taj Express in 2011.
Film success and failure (2012–2016)
Samrat made his film debut in 2012 with the romantic comedy Bitto Boss. He played the role of a wedding videographer from Punjab, alongside Amita Pathak. "With a character sketch, screen name, and styling so reminiscent of Ranveer Singh, debutant Pulkit Samrat has little scope to create his own identity," the Times of India wrote, "but he pulls off the small-town-munda act with sincerity, and a natural ease." He then played Hunny in the ensemble comedy film Fukrey, opposite Priya Anand. The film became a sleeper hit. "The characters and actors are a perfect match," Anupama Chopra wrote, "Pulkit embodies the overconfident charmer Hunny."
He had two releases in 2014. He first appeared as a Police Inspector in Jai Ho. It became his highest-grossing release, grossing 195.04 crore. He then starred in O Teri alongside Sarah Jane Dias. It received mixed reviews, but according to Bollywood Hungama, "Pulkit Samrat is pitch-perfect in his part, and he seems to be getting better with each film."
Samrat played Inspector Robin Singh opposite Sonam Kapoor in Dolly Ki Doli, his first release of 2015. "Samrat's face is pretty enough, but has no expression, and he does a godawful Haryanvi accent that's all the more jarring because Rao's is pitch perfect," said Firstpost. He then appeared in Bangistan with Riteish Deshmukh. It received negative feedback. Samrat also had two films released in 2016 alongside Yami Gautam. He first appeared in Sanam Re, followed by Junooniyat. Both films received negative reviews and bombed at the box office.
Recent work and growth (2017-present)
Samrat's career took a turn in 2017 when he starred in Fukrey Returns, the second installment of the Fukrey franchise. The film was a commercial success. According to News 18, Samrat portrays the "same old confident Hunny" well. Samrat debuted in the romantic comedy Veerey Ki Wedding opposite Kriti Kharbanda in 2018. "Pulkit Samrat, as always, portrays himself as an extension of Salman Khan. He appears comfortable displaying his brawn and swag but emotes poorly, making no impact at all," wrote the Hindustan Times. Later that year, he starred as Vilas Naik in the independent drama film 3 Storeys. According to the Times of India, Samrat is "competent" in his role.
His sole release in 2019 was Anees Bazmee's Pagalpanti, in which he co-starred with Kharbanda. According to Bollywood Hungama, "Pulkit Samrat tries his best but doesn't succeed in giving the performance that his character demanded." In 2020, he starred as Sunny Lalwani in Bejoy Nambiar's thriller drama film Taish, which was released on ZEE5 on October 29, 2020. "Pulkit Samrat's put in some serious efforts to render justice to Sunny's trauma-fuelled anger; he is good when he's mad and unconvincing when he's happy, and that's a problem," says the Times of India. "Pulkit Samrat and Harshvardhan Rane swagger about and clench fists and jawlines," says Scroll.
In 2021, Samrat had only one release, the trilingual film Kaadan. In the Hindi version, he played Shankar, a mahout. The Hindi version was met with criticism.
Samrat will next appear in Fukrey 3, the third installment of the Fukrey series. In addition, he will appear in Suswagatam Khushamadeed alongside Isabelle Kaif.

On November 3, 2014, Samrat married his girlfriend Shweta Rohira. Rohira is Salman Khan's "rakhi-sister." Khan also helped promote Pulkit Samrat's directorial debut. The couple divorced in November of 2015.
Samrat later dated actress Yami Gautam, but the couple split up. Samrat is currently dating Kriti Kharbanda, his Veerey Ki Wedding, Pagalpanti, and Taish co-star.
