Ola Scooter Electric vehicle pre bookings open now ahead of official launch

Ola Electric Mobility on Thursday officially opened reservations for its anticipated electric scooter - the Ola Scooter - and customers can reserve it by making a refundable deposit of Rs. 499. Those who reserve will get priority delivery, the company said. The exact launch date of the vehicle is yet to be revealed.

The company chief Bhavish Aggrawal made the announcement via his official Twitter handle.

“India's EV revolution begins today as we open reservations for our electric scooter, the first in our range of upcoming EVs. With its incredible performance, technology and design along with aggressive pricing, it will help accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility,” Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO, Ola, in a prepared statement.

Interested buyers can book the scooter for a small amount of Rs 499. In an earlier post, Aggarwal also confirmed some of the new features of the new electric scooter.  He stated that the vehicle will have the best under-seat storage in the segment, will come with mobile app-based access and also, segment-leading range (that should be 150 km on a single full charge).

Ola Electric says that the full features and the price of its electric scooter will be revealed in the coming days. Other key bits about the electric scooter include all-LED lighting, along with a front disc brake, smartphone connectivity and also, a fully digital instrument cluster. The launch of Ola’s electric scooter looks quite imminent and the EV is expected to be priced around Rs 1 lakh. The scooter will give a tough fight to the likes of Ather 450X and TVS iQube that are currently among the best electric scooters on sale in India.

OLA Electric has raised $100 million in long term debt for a period of 10 years from the Bank of Baroda to close the first phase of development of its 'Futurefactory' that will be manufacturing electric two-wheelers. The company had previously announced in December last year that it will be investing Rs. 2400 crore for setting up Phase1 of the factory. The facility will be able to provide employment for over 2,000 people initially. About 10 million man-hours have been planned to construct the facility.
