Gimi George, better known by her stage name Miya George, or simply Miya, is an Indian actress and model who primarily works in Malayalam films with a few Tamil films thrown in for good measure. She began her acting career as a supporting actress in television shows.
She made her film debut with roles in Oru Small Family (2010), Doctor Love (2011), and Ee Adutha Kaalathu (2012). She was crowned Kerala Miss Fitness in 2012 and made her acting debut in the Malayalam film Chettayees the following year.

Childhood and education

Miya was born in Dombivli, Mumbai, as the daughter of George Joseph and Mini George. She was raised in a Syro Malabar Catholic family, and her father worked as an engineer. She later moved to Pala in Kottayam when she was four years old. She attended Sacred Heart Girls High School in Bharananganam and St. Mary's Higher Secondary School in Bharananganam. She received her B.A. from Alphonsa College in Palai and her M.A. in English Literature from St. Thomas College in Palai. Gini, her older sister, is married to Lijo George and lives in Bangalore. Miya married businessman Ashwin Philip on September 12, 2020, at St. Mary's Basilica Church in Ernakulam in a simple ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions. In July 2021, they welcomed a son. George Joseph, her father, died two months later, on September 21, 2021.
Her career began with supporting roles in the television series Alphonsamma] and Kunjali Marakkar. She appeared in the movies Doctor Love and Ee Adutha Kaalathu. She rose to prominence after being named Kerala Miss Fitness 2012 in a beauty pageant. She made her debut as a heroine in the film Ettekaal Second, which was released commercially in 2014. Urmila Unni, who played Miya's mother in this film, recommended her to director Shajoon Kariyal, who cast her in his 2012 comedy film Chettayees. She received critical acclaim for her role as the wife of Biju Menon's character. Miya was next seen in Mohanlal's Red Wine, where she played the lead opposite Asif Ali. She portrayed an investigative journalist in Jeethu Joseph's Memories, which was a box office smash in 2013. In the same year, she appeared as a Christian nun expelled from the church in Visudhan. In 2014, she starred in veteran director Joshiy's Salaam Kashmier, in which she co-starred with Jayaram and Suresh Gopi, and in B. Unnikrishnan's Mr. Fraud, in which she co-starred with Mohanlal. She also appeared in Lal Jr.'s psychological thriller Hi I'm Tony, in which she paired up with Asif Ali for the second time, George Varghese's 6B Paradise, and K. N. Sasidharan's Nayana, in which she played a young girl's mother. She made her Tamil debut in Jeeva Shankar's Amara Kaaviyam, playing the character Karthika. She completed 32aam Adhyayam and 23aam Vaakyam in 2015.
