Masaba Gupta Wiki, Age, Biography, Height, Boyfriend, Family, Images, And More

Masaba Gupta (born 2 November 1989) is an Indian fashion designer and actress who owns the House of Masaba label.

Early years

Masaba Gupta was born in 1989 in Mumbai, India, to Indian actress Neena Gupta and West Indies cricketer Viv Richards. Her parents never married, and she was raised by her mother after the family relocated from New Delhi to Mumbai. Gupta discovered a father figure in her late maternal grandfather, and when she turned 20, she reconnected with her father, with whom she now has a close relationship.

She wanted to be a tennis player since she was eight years old, but she gave up when she was sixteen. Gupta, who is passionate about dance and music, wanted to join Shiamak Davar's dance group but was discouraged by her mother. She later enrolled in a music and dance course in London, but dropped out because she was lonely and homesick.
Masaba later attended Premlila Vithaldas Polytechnic of SNDT Women's University. She has stated that her education was occasionally marred by racism from other students.

Career

Gupta began her career in fashion at the age of 19, with assistance from Wendell Rodricks. Kattran (miniature bits of fabric) was the name of her first collection. "Wanderess," her Lakme Fashion Week 2014 collection, was "inspired by novelist Roman Payne's doe-eyed gipsy girl character, Saskia" in his novel The Wanderess. Gupta is well-known for the imaginative and artistic names she gives to each collection.

Gupta's design aesthetic has been described as a mix of contemporary and traditional elements, with modernity taking precedence. She specialises in ethnic wear for women, and her fabrics include silk, chiffon, and cotton, as well as rich embroidery work. She is known for her unconventional prints, as well as feminine drapes and silhouettes. Her work has "a unique Indianness in a very modern context," according to the Mumbai daily broadsheet dna, citing her "Tamil script sarees and jackets" and the way she uses cotton and muslin.
Gupta collaborated with Maybelline New York in 2016 to create a collection of clothes inspired by the company's new lipstick line, but the project fell through due to a variety of logistical issues. Her Stylista collection was her biggest regret in her career, she said.
She was tasked with representing India in an exhibit featuring re-designs of Levi's iconic trucker jacket in 2017. She went with her signature cow motif. Justin Timberlake and other celebrities redesigned the exhibit as well.
Gupta is credited with being the first Indian designer to hold a fashion show on Instagram. She claims that WhatsApp accounts for roughly 60% of her sales.
In 2018, she debuted a hijab-saree collection aimed at Muslim women who want to dress in Indian high fashion.
Masaba Masaba, a semi-fictional series in which Gupta and her mother Neena Gupta show glimpses of their lives through fashion and film, was announced by Netflix in 2019.
Gupta married film producer Madhu Mantena in a civil ceremony in 2015. The couple announced their trial separation in late 2018. In September 2019, the couple filed for divorce. On January 27, 2023, she married Satyadeep Mishra.
