Lee Sung-kyung (Korean: ; born August 10, 1990) is a model, actress, and singer from South Korea. She is best known for her roles in the TV shows Cheese in the Trap (2016), The Doctors (2016), Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo (2016), Dr. Romantic 2 (2020), and Sh**ting Stars (2019). (2022).
Lee was born on August 10, 1990, in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Lee graduated from Dongduk Women's University on February 22, 2016.
Career
Lee began her entertainment career as a model, competing in the 2008 local Super Model Contest. The Papers and Lee collaborated on the single "I Love You" in 2013.
Lee made her acting debut in 2014 with a supporting role in the television drama It's Okay, That's Love, becoming the first model-actress promoted through YG KPlus, a collaboration between YG Entertainment and K-Plus. Flower of Queen, a weekend drama, followed in 2015. For her performance, she was named "Best New Actress" in a Special Project Drama at the MBC Drama Awards.
Lee appeared in the college romance series Cheese in the Trap on tvN in January 2016. Lee and Eddy Kim collaborated on a cover of Sharp's "My Lips Like Warm Coffee," which was released on April 28, 2016. Lee then played a neurosurgeon in the SBS prime-time medical drama The Doctors. The same year, she landed her first leading role in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo, a youth sports drama based on Olympic weightlifting champion Jang Mi-true ran's story.
Lee and Park Hyung-sik co-wrote the film Trolls in 2017. She was also cast in the romance film Love+Sling, which was directed for the first time by Kim Dae-woong. She was also featured in Psy's 4X2=8 with the single "Last Scene". Lee appeared in the fantasy melodrama About Time in 2018. She co-starred in the action comedy film Miss & Mrs. Cops, which was released on May 9, 2019.
Lee appeared in the second season of the hit medical drama Dr. Romantic in 2020, playing Cha Eun-jae, a skilled cardiothoracic surgeon, alongside Ahn Hyo-seop.
Lee co-starred in the tvN drama Sh**ting Stars with Kim Young-dae in 2022.
Philanthropy
Lee donated $100 million to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association on August 12, 2022, to assist those affected by the 2022 South Korean floods.
