Lee Dong-gun Wiki, Age, Biography, Height, Wife, Family, Images, And More
Lee Dong-gun (born July 26, 1980) is a South Korean actor and singer.
Career
Lee Dong-gun made his debut in the entertainment industry as a singer in 1998, but he rose to prominence as an actor, appearing in television dramas such as Sweet 18, Lovers in Paris, and Stained Glass.
Lee took a break from acting in 2005, claiming that his workload in both television and film had become too much for him. He returned to work in 2006 with Smile Again.
Lee announced the release of his first photobook, along with a making-of DVD, poster, and postcard, at a fan meeting event in Japan on December 5, 2005. The success of Lovers in Paris, as well as promotions for his new film My Boyfriend Is Type B, helped to boost his popularity in Japan.
Lee attended the Hallyu Expo Asia on Jeju Island, which began on November 28, 2006 and lasted 100 days. This large-scale event was intended to promote Korean culture throughout Asia and was expected to bring in 150,000 tourists to stimulate the local economy. He also attended the FACE in Japan Premium Event, a follow-up to the Hallyu Expo held in Japan. This two-day event, held on August 14 and 15, 2007, featured Korean celebrities with large fan bases and was intended as a cultural exchange programme between Korea and Japan.
In 2008, Lee released My Biography, a 14-track album that was his first full-length album in a decade. It included six Korean songs, six Japanese songs, and two instrumentals. It was first released in Japan before being made available in Korea. The same year, he co-starred in the television series Night After Night with Kim Sun-ah, and he appeared in the romance film Love Now with an ensemble cast.
Lee signed with the talent agency Mask Entertainment in December 2011, three months before completing his mandatory military service. Lee joined FNC Entertainment in November 2012 after his contract with Mask Entertainment expired.
Lee was cast in the lead role of the time-travel romance Marry Him If You Dare in 2013. This was followed in 2015 by the title role in the cable series Super Daddy Yeol, which was based on the webtoon of the same name. Lee appeared in the 2016 family drama The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop. He also co-starred in his first Chinese drama, Hello Mr. Right, with actress Guan Xiaotong.
In the historical drama Queen for Seven Days, Lee wowed viewers with his wide range of emotions and acting performance as the tyrannical Joseon ruler Yeonsangun. He then appeared in the action drama Sketch as a member of a special operations command seeking vengeance for the death of his wife, as well as the slice-of-life drama Where Stars Land.
Lee was cast in the 2019 fantasy romance drama Angel's Last Mission: Love.
Personal life
Lee's 19-year-old brother Lee Joon-yub, a University of Sydney student, was fatally stabbed on March 20, 2008, during a brawl with two Chinese teenage gang members at Hungry Jack's in World Square, Sydney. Song Jung-ho, 22, the victim's friend, was critically injured but survived. Lee flew to Sydney to identify his brother's body and attend a requiem mass at St. John's College Chapel; after cremation, his family returned Lee Joon-ashes yub's to Seoul.
Military service
Lee enlisted for his mandatory military service on June 15, 2010 at the 102 Reserves in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, for four weeks of basic training followed by 21 months of active duty. He worked for the Ministry of National Defense's Defense Media Agency and was named Honorary Military Ambassador. On the same day that he was discharged, he was named promotional ambassador for the 2012 Korean Formula One Grand Prix, which was held at the Korea International Circuit in October.
Relationships and marriage
Lee Dong-gun confirmed his relationship with Jo Yoon-hee, his co-star in The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop, on February 28, 2017. Lee announced on May 2nd that they had registered their marriage and are expecting their first child. The couple married in a private ceremony on September 29 and welcomed a baby girl on December 14, 2017. They divorced on May 29, 2020 due to irreconcilable differences.
