Kartikeya Gummakonda (born September 21, 1992) is an Indian actor best known for his work in Telugu films. He made his acting debut in Prematho Mee Karthik in 2017 and is best known for his performance in the 2018 romantic action film RX100.
He went on to appear in films like Hippi, Guna 369, Nani's Gang Leader, and Valimai.
Personal and early life
Kartikeya Gummakonda was born in Hyderabad and raised there. His parents own a school in the Vanasthalipuram neighborhood. He chose to pursue a career in acting after graduating from the National Institute of Technology, Warangal.
Gummakonda proposed to his girlfriend Lohitha Reddy, whom he met in college in 2010, in August 2021.
Career
Gummakonda made his film debut in Prematho Mee Karthik (2017), and he has since appeared in a number of films, none of which have been theatrically released. He rose to prominence with the film RX 100 (2018), directed by Ajay Bhupathi. The film was a commercial success, and he received recognition as a result. In the same year, he appeared in Hippi, Guna 369, Nani's Gang Leader, and 90ML, all of which were released in 2019. Gummakonda worked out to be authentic in his role as a kickboxer for Hippi. Guna 369 is based on a true story that occurred in Ongole. The Times of India wrote in its review of the film, "Karthikeya does his best to pour life into the titular character."
Gummakonda made his first appearance as a villain in Gang Leader, opposite Nani. He was cast in the role of Dev after the film's director, Vikram Kumar, liked his performance in RX 100, and he received positive reviews for his performance. Despite his enjoyment of the craze, his desire to grow as a performer was evident in his antagonist role as Nani's Gang Leader. Following its success, he was signed to play an intriguing lead role in 90ML. The Times of India wrote in a review of the film, "Kartikeya gets a role that requires him to dance like a dream and fight like a pro for the most part, and he aces it completely." In 2021, he played Basti Balaraju in Chaavu Kaburu Challaga, a hearse driver who falls in love with a widow. A critic from The Indian Express said of his performance, "Kartikeya wins applauds for his portrayal of Basthi Balaraju."
In the year 2021, he appeared in Raja Vikramarka as an NIA officer. Gummakonda made his Tamil film debut as the antagonist in Ajith's Valimai. He'll next be seen in the village dramedy Bedurulanka 2012, which is set to release in 2023.
