Jordan William Fisher (born April 24, 1994) is an actor, singer, and dancer from the United States. He began his career on several television shows, including The Secret Life of the American Teenager in 2012 and Liv and Maddie from 2015 to 2017. He also appeared in the television films Teen Beach Movie (2013), Teen Beach 2 (2015), and Grease Live (2016), as well as Rent: Live (2016). (2019).

Fisher and his partner Lindsay Arnold triumphed in the 25th season of Dancing with the Stars (2017). In 2018, he hosted Dancing with the Stars: Juniors and commented on the 2019 Fortnite World Cup. In 2016, Hollywood Records released his self-titled EP as a singer.

Fisher appeared on Broadway as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton in Hamilton from 2016 to 2017, and then as Evan Hansen in Dear Evan Hansen in 2020. He also appeared in the 2020 Netflix films. To Every Boy: P.S. I still love you and am working on it. Fisher is also known for his portrayal of Sea Hawk in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.

Childhood and education

Fisher was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1994 and raised in Trussville, Alabama. Jordan's biological mother was 16 when he was born, and he was legally adopted at the age of 11 in 2005 and raised by his maternal grandparents, Rodney and Pat Fisher. Jordan's two siblings, Cory and Trinity, were also adopted by the Fishers because their mother struggled with substance abuse and had no relationship with the children. Fisher revealed during an interview with Hollywood Today Live that he is of Nigerian, Cambodian, English, Polynesian (Tahitian), Italian, Greek, and Scandinavian descent.

Fisher began gymnastics at the age of two and mail delivery at the age of eleven. In the fifth grade, he became interested in musical theater after being cast in a school production of School House Rock, Jr. Fisher was homeschooled as a child and graduated from Harvest Christian Academy with a high school diploma. For many years, he was a member of the Red Mountain Theatre Company's youth performing ensemble in Birmingham. A talent scout noticed him and offered to represent him. In 2011, he enrolled at Jacksonville State University. Later that year, he relocated to Los Angeles with his grandparents and siblings.

Career

Fisher released three pop-soul songs on Radio Disney in 2014: "By Your Side", "Never Dance Alone", and "What I Got". He signed a record deal with Hollywood Records in 2015. His first track for the label, "Counterfeit," was released on February 1, 2016. This single's release was postponed while he finished his delivery person contract with the United States Postal Service.

Fisher's debut single, "All About Us," was released on April 15, 2016, and was produced by Warren "Oak" Felder of Pop & Oak. The music video for the song, directed by TK McKamy, debuted on Vibe.com on May 11, 2016. "All About Us" was the second-most added song on pop radio stations the week of June 13, 2016. It is the lead single from Fisher's self-titled EP, which was released on August 19, 2016. He describes the EP's sound as pop-soul-R&B, with influences from '80s soul music. Fisher is a multi-instrumentalist who can play the piano, guitar, bass, harmonica, French horn, and drums.

Fisher joined the Disney Channel Circle of Stars in 2015 for a remake of the Frozen song "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" He sang a duet and ballad version of the song "True Love" for his role on Liv and Maddie, which appeared on the show's soundtrack in 2015. He contributed two songs to the Teen Beach 2 soundtrack, "Fallin' For Ya" and "Wanna Be With You," as well as vocals on three others. On "Thin Air," he also appears on Olivia Holt's self-titled debut EP. He sang the national anthem before the NASCAR Good Sam 500 stock car race at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona on March 13, 2016. Fisher opened for Alicia Keys at the 2016 Apple Music Festival in London. Fisher co-wrote "You're Welcome," an end-credits song for the 2016 animated Disney film Moana, with Lin-Manuel Miranda. In July 2016, he was named Elvis Duran's Artist of the Month and appeared on NBC's Today show, which was hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb and was broadcast nationally, where he performed live his single "All About Us." For the 2017 ABC miniseries When We Rise, he covered the 1971 Ten Years After song "I'd Love to Change the World." Fisher has performed at a number of WE Day benefit concerts across the United States.

On October 6, 2017, Fisher's single "Mess" was released. He released his single "Be Okay" in 2019. He released two singles, "Contact" and "Walking on the Ceiling," in 2020.

Television

Fisher made her television debut in 2009 as a guest star on Crackle's The Hustler and Nickelodeon's iCarly. On seasons 4 and 5 of ABC Family's The Secret Life of the American Teenager, he played Grace Bowman's half-brother Jacob. Beginning in 2015, he played the recurring character Holden Dippledorf on the Disney Channel's Liv and Maddie, and he has also appeared in The Thundermans and Teen Wolf. In the cable TV movies Teen Beach Movie (2013) and Teen Beach 2, he played the surfer gang leader Seacat (2015). Fisher starred as Doody in Grease: Live, a live performance of Grease televised on Fox, opposite Carly Rae Jepsen as his girlfriend Frenchy. He performs a rendition of "Those Magic Changes," which was widely praised as a show highlight. Fisher debuted as a celebrity on the 25th season of Dancing with the Stars in September 2017. Lindsay Arnold was his professional partner. On November 21, Fisher and Arnold reached the finals and were crowned season winners.

Fisher played Sea Hawk in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power from 2018 to 2020.

Fisher played Mark Cohen in another Fox musical production, Rent: Live, in 2019.

He appeared on the Disney Family Singalong in 2020.

Fisher was confirmed to play Bart Allen / Impulse on the CW superhero series The Flash on March 30, 2021. He has also appeared as Gina's older brother, Jamie, in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

Fisher portrayed MC Grillz, a famous rapper who hosts a popular rapping competition, in the animated series Karma's World from 2021 to 2022.

Fisher voiced Wilbur in the HBO Max animated musical Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Underground Rock Experience in 2022.

Theatre

On November 22, 2016, Fisher made his Broadway debut in Hamilton, taking over the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton from Anthony Ramos. His final performance took place on March 5, 2017. In 2019, he took part in a workshop of MJ the Musical, playing Michael Jackson. On January 28, 2020, he will return to Broadway as the title character in the Tony Award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen. In 2023, he appears in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street as Anthony Hope.

Film

In 2019, he landed the role of John Ambrose McClaren in To All the Boys: P.S. I'm still in love with you. In 2020, he played Jake Taylor in the Netflix Original film Work It. In April 2021, it was revealed that he had been cast as Hugo in the upcoming film Field Notes on Love, alongside Liv and Maddie co-star Dove Cameron.

Fisher is married to his childhood sweetheart, Ellie Woods. They announced their engagement on May 29, 2019 and planned to marry on July 25, 2020, but the ceremony was postponed due to COVID-19. They will marry in a private ceremony at Walt Disney World on November 21, 2020. The couple announced on Instagram in December 2021 that they are expecting their first child, a son. Riley William was born on June 7, 2022, to the couple.
