Jo Bo-ah (born August 22, 1991) is a South Korean actress, model, and host best known for her roles in the films Goodbye to Goodbye (2018), My Strange Hero (2018), Forest (2020), Tale of the Nine Tailed (2020), and Military Prosecutor Doberman (2022).
Jo Bo-ah was born on August 22, 1991, in Daejeon, South Korea, as Jo Bo-yoon. Jo received her bachelor's degree in performing arts from Sungkyunkwan University. Jo Yoo-ah is her sister.
Career
Jo made her acting debut in 2011 with a small role in JTBC's daily sitcom I Live in Cheongdam-dong. Following that, she hosted the audition show Made in U (also on JTBC) and appeared in the Korean-Japanese co-production Koisuru Maison Rainbow Rose.
In 2012, Jo landed her first major role in tvN's Shut Up Flower Boy Band as a former rich girl who falls for a rocker. Later that year, she appeared in her first network TV series, Horse Doctor, as a supporting character.
Jo and Kim Woo-bin hosted Mnet's weekly music show M Countdown for two weeks in 2013. (on April 4 and 11).
Jo made her film debut in 2014, playing a troubled, seductive adolescent who becomes obsessed with her gym teacher in the erotic thriller Innocent Thing. Back on cable, she starred in the romantic comedy series The Idle Mermaid, a modern retelling of The Little Mermaid set in a competitive Korean workplace.
In 2015, Jo debuted in a new genre with the OCN police procedural drama The Missing, in which she played a detective on the missing persons task force. She then appeared in the KBS weekend family drama All About My Mom as part of the ensemble cast, and she starred in the web series Love Cells 2, which was adapted from the webtoon of the same name.
Jo appeared in the 2016 melodrama Monster and the romantic comedy series Sweet Stranger and Me. In 2017, she appeared in the romance melodrama Temperature of Love as well as the two-part drama special Let's Meet, Joo-oh.
Jo starred in Goodbye to Goodbye, a 2018 film based on a webtoon about the lives of two women. She portrayed a university student who struggles as a single mother. She appeared in the romantic comedy drama My Strange Hero the same year.
Jo appeared as a doctor in the romantic drama Forest in 2020. The same year, she was cast as Nam Ji-ah, a television producer, in the fantasy drama Tale of the Nine Tailed.
Jo signed with KeyEast in February 2021 after her contract with her previous agency expired. In 2021, she was cast as Cha Woo-in, a military prosecutor who hides her vengeful persona, in the new military themed drama Military Prosecutor Doberman, which will air in 2022. This drama is one of the most popular Korean dramas on Korean cable television.
