Ind vs SL-Sanju Samson to miss first ODI due to knee injury

Indian batsman Sanju Samson was dropped out of the first ODI against SRI LANKA on Sunday due to a ligament sprain of his knee. In the ongoing match, Dasun Shanaka- led Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first against India. The visitors have handed debuts to Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav.

“Sanju Samson sprained a ligament in his knee and was hence not available for selection for this game. The medical team is tracking his progress at the moment”, the BCCI said in a statement.

India might have picked a plethora of young guns for the SRI LANKA tour, but the visitors will start as favorites in the ODI series. While Dhawan has been named the captain for the tour, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be his deputy with former skipper Rahul Dravid as the coach of the Indian team.

As for Playing XI, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan are set for ODI debut; Kul-Cha pair returns after World Cup 2019. Bhanuka Rajapaksa set to make debut for Sri Lanka.
