Im Si-wan Wiki, Age, Biography, Height, Girlfriend, Family, Images, And More

Yim Si-wan (Korean: ; Hanja: ; born December 1, 1988) is a South Korean singer and actor who goes by the moniker Siwan. He is a member of the South Korean boy band ZE:A, as well as its sub-group ZE:A Five. As an actor, he is best known for his roles in the films The Attorney (2013) and Misaeng: Incomplete Life (2014), both of which were box office and ratings successes.

Early years

Yim Si-wan was born in Busan, South Korea, on December 1, 1988. He went to Busan Gudeok High School, Busan National University, the University of East Broadcasting Arts, and is now enrolled at Woosong Information College. Before his debut, he legally changed his first name from Woong-jae to Si-wan.

Career sZE:A

ZE:A is the main article.

Star Empire hired him as a trainee while he was attending the Chin Chin Song Festival in Busan. He joined the "Children of Empire," a nine-member group where he trained for three years. The group began doing guerrilla performances across the country in 2009. On January 7, 2010, the group debuted as ZE:A with their EP Nativity. He is also a member of the ZE:A-Five sub-unit.

Acting

Yim appeared in the period drama Moon Embracing the Sun (2012) as the younger version of Heo Yeom. Moon surpassed 40% in ratings and was designated a "national drama," catapulting Yim to fame. Later that year, Yim was cast as a cold young man with a sad story behind his negative outlook on life in the revenge drama Man from the Equator. The sitcom Standby (2012) and the drama special Waiting for Love followed (2013).

In 2013, he starred in the courtroom drama film The Attorney, in which he played a young student activist who was detained and tortured by police on suspicion of communist sympathies. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over 11 million tickets and ranking as the eighth best-selling Korean film of all time. At the Max Movie Awards and the Marie Claire Film Festival, Yim was named Best New Actor.

Yim made a comeback to television in 2014, starring in two drama series. He portrayed the youngest of three brothers who were separated as children and grew up in a cold chaebol household in Triangle. He reprised his role as a former baduk player learning to adapt to Korean corporate culture in Incomplete Life: Prequel, which was based on the webtoon adaptation and cable hit drama Misaeng: Incomplete Life. Misaeng: Incomplete Life was a commercial success, with a peak viewership rating of 8.4%, and was dubbed a "cultural phenomenon." For his performance, Im received the Excellence Award in Acting at the 4th APAN Star Awards, as well as Best New Actor awards at the 9th Cable TV Broadcasting Awards and the 51st Baeksang Arts Awards.

Yim then made his big-screen debut as a leading man in the war drama film A Melody to Remember (2016), playing a good-hearted soldier who believes in a miracle even in a desperate situation. Along with Chae Soo-bin and Kim Myung-soo, he was cast in the Chinese-South Korean web drama My Catman.

Yim plays a cunning conman in the crime caper film One Line, a departure from his usual "nice guy" roles (2017). In The Merciless (2017), a crime action film in which he played an undercover cop who works for a drug-smuggling ring, he deviated even further from his clean-cut image. For the first time, Yim was invited to the Cannes Film Festival. Yim starred as an ambitious crown prince in the historical melodrama The King in Love the same year.

Yim was cast in Hell Is Other People, a thriller drama based on the webtoon of the same name, in 2019. This is his first project since joining the army. He was cast in the period sports film Boston 1947 the same year. He was also cast in the disaster film Emergency Declaration in 2020.
Yim appeared in the JTBC romance drama Run On in 2020, alongside Shin Se-kyung, Kang Tae-oh, and Choi Soo-young.

Yim appeared in the thriller drama Tracer, which aired on Wavve and MBC concurrently in 2022, and will appear in the ENA drama Summer Strike.

On February 11th, 2023, Yim held a fan concert called YIM Si wan 2023 'WHY I AM in SEOUL'.
