Gong Myung (born May 26, 1994 as Kim Dong-hyun) is a South Korean actor. He is a 5urprise member. He is well-known for his roles in the television series The Bride of Habaek (2017), Revolutionary Love (2017), Be Melodramatic (2019), and Lovers of the Red Sky (2021), as well as the box office hit Extreme Job (2017). (2019).
Gong made his acting debut in the web series After School: Lucky or Not in 2013, alongside members of 5urprise, an actor group formed by talent agency Fantagio. After that, he appeared in the MBC historical drama Splendid Politics (2015), the SBS romance-comedy drama Entertainer (2017), and the tvN romance-comedy series Drinking Solo (2016). Later that year, he appeared on MBC's We Got Married, where he was paired with actress Jung Hye-sung.
Gong starred in the two-episode drama The Happy Loner, which aired on KBS2 in 2017. He starred as Bi-ryeom: God of the Land of the Sky in the fantasy-romance drama The Bride of Habaek the same year, and as Kwon Jae-hoon in the tvN drama Revolutionary Love.
In 2019, he starred as Jae-hoon, the youngest member of a detective team, in the action comedy film Extreme Job. In South Korea, the film became a huge box office success, selling over 10 million tickets in just 15 days. It is currently the second most-watched film in South Korean history. He was nominated for six Best New Actor awards for his performance, and he won two of them. Later that year, he appeared in the historical film Homme Fatale as well as the JTBC television series Be Melodramatic.
After his contract with his previous management company expired in April 2020, Gong signed with new management agency Saram Entertainment.
Gong appeared in the historical-fantasy drama Lovers of the Red Sky, which aired on SBS in 2021. He portrayed Grand Prince Yangmyeong, a leisurely prince skilled in painting, calligraphy, and poetry. Later that year, he joined the cast of the third season of tvN's travel variety show House on Wheels.
Gong appeared as commander Yi Eokgi in Kim Han-war min's action film Hansan: Rising Dragon in 2022.
He has a younger brother, Doyoung (real name Kim Dong-young), who is a member of the boy band NCT.
Service in the military
Gong was summoned for mandatory military service on November 5, 2021, according to reports.
He enlisted in the military on December 14, 2021 without disclosing his location in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and he is scheduled to be discharged on June 13, 2023.
