EXO’s Lay has parted ways with SM Entertainment.
On April 8, EXO’s 10th anniversary, Lay posted a handwritten letter in English and Korean announcing his departure from SM Entertainment.
In the letter, he expressed gratitude to the EXO members, SM Entertainment, and his fans. He added, “I will always be the Lay when my members need me,” and concluded with, “EXO, let’s love.”

Thank you to my Exo brothers for your

Thanks to my colleagues at SM for witnessing
every step of my growth and achievement.
Thank you to all of my tans for your
Unconditional love and support.
It's time to say goodbye as an employee of SM.
It's also my new beginning as a 30-year-old.
But 2 will always be the Lay when my
members need me.
