Big and Bold-Modi government gear up with all new Cabinet
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expanded his Union Cabinet on Wednesday, bringing in 36 new faces and promoting seven existing Minsters. Some of the high-profile Minsters including Ravi Shankar Prasad, Harsh Vardhan, Prakash Javdekar, Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal, and 12 others were dropped from the new cabinet.
The first “Big and Bold” cabinet reshuffle In Modi government’s second term has immense diversity, with 11 women, 27 OBCs, 12 members of the Schedule Castes and eight of the Scheduled Tribes in the most inclusive council of Ministers.
As many as 43 Ministers were sworn in at a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, including 15 as cabinet Ministers and 28 as ministers of state.
Former IAS officer Ashwini Vaishnaw is the new Railway and IT minister while Mansukh Mandaviya has been appointed as the Health Minister in the new Union Cabinet. Jyotiraditya Scindia will be taking charge of the Civil Aviation Minister and Kiran Rijiju will be the new Law Minister.
