Ahan Shetty (born December 28, 1995) is a Hindi film actor from India. He began his acting career in 2021 with the action romance film Tadap, for which he received the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year - Male.
Childhood and family
Shetty was born in Mumbai, India on December 28, 1995. He is the son of Sunil Shetty, a Bollywood actor, and Mana Shetty. and the younger brother of Athiya Shetty. His father is a Bollywood actor, and his mother, Monisha Kadri, is a businesswoman, designer, and social activist born to a Gujarati Muslim architect and a Punjabi Hindu social activist.
Career
Shetty made his acting debut in Milan Luthria's romantic action drama film Tadap, co-starring Tara Sutaria and a remake of the hit Telugu action film RX 100. He gained 11 kg and ate 11 to 12 meals per day to prepare for the role. The production began in April 2019 under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, with Fox Star Studios serving as distributor and co-producer. The film was released theatrically in December 2021 to mixed reviews from critics, with praise for performances and action sequences but criticism for the screenplay.
According to Hindustan Times' Monika Rawal Kukreja, "Shetty and his character arch leaves a long impression, he makes an intense and impressive debut." According to Filmfare's Devesh Sharma, "he scores the most in action scenes [and] is at ease in front of the camera overall and makes a confident debut." Tadap grossed 34.86 crore and was considered "average" at the box office. Shetty's performance earned him the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year - Male.
Private life
Shetty is married to fashion designer Tania Shroff. They've been in a relationship for nearly a decade. In fact, they attended the same school. The couple made their first public appearance as a couple at Armaan Jain's wedding. They were seen together at a screening of Shetty's debut film during its release.
