Biography
Yokoyama's initial audition for AKB48 or a sister group was for SKE48's second generation, however she was turned down. On September 20, 2009, she passed the tryouts for AKB48 and became a ninth-generation kenkyusei (trainee) member. She was the first of her generation to be promoted, which happened on October 10, 2010, during the AKB48 Tokyo Matsuri, and she became a member of Team K.
By finishing 19th in the AKB48 general elections in 2011, she won her first appearance on an AKB48 single title track. "Everyday, Katyusha" was her debut A-side single.
She finished 15th in the AKB48 general elections in 2012.
It was announced at the AKB48 Tokyo Dome Concert in 2012 that Yokoyama would join NMB48 and so maintain a concurrent role between AKB48's Team A and NMB48. She sang on the A-side of NMB48's sixth single "Kitagawa Kenji" in November of the same year.
She finished 13th in the AKB48 general election and third in the rock-paper-scissors competition in 2013. NMB48 cancelled her concurrent on April 28, 2013, and she stayed in AKB48.
On December 8, 2014, it was confirmed that Yokoyama would take over as General Director of AKB48 after Minami Takahashi left. Minami Takahashi graduated on April 8, 2016, and she earned the second "Soukantoku" on December 8, 2015, during AKB48 Theater's 10th anniversary stage.
On March 31, 2019, Yokoyama resigned as General Manager and was elected as a regular member. The following day, Mion Mukaichi formally took up the title. Yokoyama appeared in Battles Without Honor and Humanity: On'na-tachi no Shit-hen, a stage adaptation of the Battles Without Honor and Humanity yakuza film series, in November 2019. She played Shozo Hirono, based on the original portrayal by Bunta Sugawara.
Yokoyama's official website, "YuiFan's," was created on December 16, 2020.
Yokoyama confirmed her departure from AKB48 on September 12, 2021. Her graduation concert was performed at Pacifico Yokohama on November 27, 2021, and her final performance at the AKB48 Theater was held on December 9, 2021.
