The duchess claimed that when she was a "briefcase girl" on the American version of the game show "Deal or No Deal," her appearance was prioritised, prompting the 66-year-old comedian to rip into her on Wednesday's (19.10.22) episode of "The View."
"OK," Whoopi said. Just wanted to mention that you had a suitcase on the show and they asked you if this was the deal you wanted or not.
"I'm not sure if the individuals seated there are thinking about you in that way. They are contemplating "I want the money."
"The objectification may originate with you and how you saw the portrayal of these women.
"You need to alter that because we are actors. As a performer, you accept the job; sometimes you're wearing a bozo costume and other times you have a large nose; this is just the way things are. My point is that, if you see that and feel that way, maybe you don't want to make the other women feel awful because they might also be working to support themselves.
"What she's trying to con us on now is whether she enjoyed it," she stated on her SiriusXM show.
"(The duchess) understood precisely what she was getting herself into on that job, therefore it came as no surprise to her that they would want her to look her best while performing it.
She enjoyed every second of it! She desired to become an object!
Megyn, a former Fox News personality who also acted in "Suits," urged the duchess to cease "the foolishness" and "obsessive image-crafting"
The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Claudia Jordan, 49, who co-starred with the 41-year-old duchess on "Deal or No Deal," said the programme "never treated them like bimbos" and "helped them so many possibilities," adding: "No dig to Meghan, but I didn't feel that way."
The duchess, who is married to Harry, Duke of Sussex, 38, and has a son Archie, 3, and a daughter Lilibet, 16 months old, made the comment in the most recent edition of her Spotify podcast, "Breaking Down "The Bimbo" with Paris Hilton."
"I would ultimately leave with this pit in my stomach, knowing that I was so much more than what was being objectified on this platform," she remarked.
"I didn't appreciate being pressured to be only good-looking with no real content. Being reduced to this particular archetype caused me to feel that way at the time.
