When asked about the reboot, Matrix actor Laurence Fishburne had a very honest response.

Laurence Fishburne, who starred in The Matrix, responded candidly when questioned about the new remake of the series.

Laurence played Morpheus in the first three instalments of the popular series, but when The Matrix Resurrections entered theatres last year, he was conspicuously missing.

Although it was revealed that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's character, Morpheus, had passed away between the third and fourth Matrix movies, he was prominently featured as an artificial intelligence.

Laurence was recently asked about the fourth Matrix movie during an interview with Variety, and while he admitted to seeing it, it seems he wasn't especially impressed with the follow-up.

"It wasn't as horrible as I anticipated. And it wasn't nearly as excellent as I had thought," he said.

But I think Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who were both welcomed back for the new movie, really did their thing. Yes, I had that same thought.

Laurence responded, "No, not really," when the interviewer asked if he felt he had missed out by not participating in The Matrix Resurrections.

The Matrix Resurrections, which debuted in 2021, garnered a mixed reception from reviewers, earning a 63% rating on the movie review website Rotten Tomatoes.

Producer James McTeigue stated that it is unlikely that a fifth film in the series will be produced anytime soon after the movie underperformed with ticket sales and was deemed a box office flop.
