Vira Viktorivna Halushka (Ukrainian: ра кторвна алyка; Russian: ера икторовна алука; born 3 February 1982), better known as Vera Brezhneva (Russian: ера ренева), is a Ukrainian singer, television presenter, and actor.
Vera Brezhneva was born on 3 February 1982 in Dniprodzerzhynsk, Ukraine, in the Soviet Union's Ukrainian SSR. Viktor, her father, worked in a chemical factory. Tamara, her medical school-educated mother, worked in the same workplace as Brezhneva's father. She has three sisters: Halyna, her older sister, and Nastya and Vika, her younger twins. She purchased a home for her parents in Boryspil, a town near Kyiv. Vitaliy Voychenko, with whom Brezhneva was briefly married, is the father of Brezhneva's daughter, Sonia. She received a correspondence degree from the Dnepropetrovsk Institute of Railway Engineering's faculty of economics.
Career 2002–2007: Nu Virgos (sometimes spelled "VIA Gra")
Brezhneva was invited to a casting in 2002 to find a female to replace Alena Vinnitskaya in the group Nu Virgos, and she was successful. Nu Virgos began performing in the new lineup of Nadiya, Anna, and Vera in January 2003, earning the moniker "the golden line up" due to their huge popularity.
Brezhneva announced her departure from the band in July 2007. In December 2007, she made an official declaration that she was departing Nu Virgos. Tatiana Kotova then took her spot in the group.
2008-2012: television hosting and a return to music
Brezhneva hosted the Russian version of the Power of 10 game show, аи 10-ти (lit. Magic of 10), which aired on Channel One Russia from 7 January 2008 until 31 August 2008.
Brezhneva debuted her first single, "Ya ne igrayu" (не ира; I Don't Play), in May 2008. Konstantin Meladze, her previous producer, wrote the song. On October 27, 2008, the second single "Nirvana" was released. In 2009, the third single "Ljubov v bolshom gorode" (ов в олом ороде; Love in the Big City) was released. She then participated in the music video for Diskoteka Avariya's song "Leto vsegda" (ето вседа; Summer always), alongside actresses Anastasia Zadorozhnaya and Svetlana Khodchenkova. The fourth single, "Ljubov spasyot mir" (ов саст мир; Love Will Save the World), was released in April and hit No. 1 in Russian Airplay Weekly. In September, the next single, "Pronto," a duet with Potap, was released. "Lepestkami slyoz" (еестками сле; Petal Tears) was her sixth single, a duet with Dan Balan. Brezhneva debuted her new single "Realnaya zhizn" (еална ин; Real Life) in early 2011, followed by "Sexy Bambina" at the end of the year. The track "Ishu tebya" (у те; Searching for You) was released in early 2012.
Films
Brezhneva has appeared in a number of films in Russian. She portrayed Katya in the 2009 film Love in the Big City (ов в олом ороде), as well as its two sequels in 2010 and 2013. She appeared in the 2016 film 8 Best Dates. She also played herself in Yolki (лки) and Yolki 2, as well as appearing in Jungle (унли). Her most notable film roles have been in romantic comedies.
