Vani Bhojan (born October 28, 1988) is an Indian actress who works primarily in Tamil films. She made her Telugu film debut in 2019 with Meeku Maathrame Cheptha and her Tamil film debut in 2020 with Oh My Kadavule.
Childhood and family
Bhojan was born to a Badaga family on October 28, 1988 in Ooty, Nilgiri District, Tamil Nadu. She attended Boarding School in Ooty and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Government Arts College in Stone House Hill, Ooty. Bhojan began his career as a Ground Staff member for Kingfisher Airlines while pursuing a degree in English Literature. She received acting offers after appearing in an advertisement for The Chennai Silks.
Career as an actor
debut on television (2010-2016)
Her first appearance as an actress was in the Tamil horror film Orr Eravuu in 2010. She had a supporting role in the Tamil film Adigaram 79 in 2012. Later, she made her debut in Vijay TV's Aaha and Jaya TV's Maya. She was the main character in these serials.
In 2013, she was cast as the lead in the Sun TV series Deivamagal. She was cast as Sathya Priya opposite Krishna. Because of the success of this serial, she received numerous awards, including the Galatta Nakshatra Award, Sun Kudumbam Viruthukal, and Tamil Nadu State Awads for Best Actress. The success of this serial aided her career in Tamil and Telugu films. She also appeared on Zee Tamil in Lakshmi Vanthachu, directed by Suresh Krissna and V. Sathasivam, where she played three characters: Nandhini, Lakshmi, and Jhansi. She left television after the success of Deivamagal to work in film, and she later signed numerous film contracts.
debut feature film (2012–present)
Vani first appeared in the film 'Adigaram 79,' produced by N.F.D.C., in 2012.
She appeared in the Telugu film Prema in 2017. After completing Deivamagal and Lakshmi Vanthachu, she appeared as a judge on Sun TV's Asathal Chutties and Vijay TV's Kings of Comedy Juniors 2 alongside Robo Shankar and Erode Mahesh. In May 2018, Bhojan announced her debut in N4 and said it will be directed by Lokesh Kumar. She left the film in the middle of 2019, citing scheduling conflicts. As a result, her first lead role was in the Telugu film Meeku Maathrame Cheptha in 2019, alongside Tharun Bhascker. The film was a commercial success. In 2020, she made her film debut in Tamil film Oh My Kadavule, opposite Ashok Selvan, which was a box office success, and she was nominated for Siima for Best Supporting Actress and won JFW Awards for Best Supporting Actress 2021. In the same year, she co-starred in the crime thriller film Lock Up with Vaibhav Reddy, as well as the Tamil web series Triples opposite Jai, both of which were released on Hotstar.
In the ZEE5 film Malaysia to Amnesia, she reunites with Vaibhav Reddy in 2021. She acted as a journalist in Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum, a film produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment and released on Amazon Prime in September.
In 2022, Bhojan was confirmed to play Vikram's love interest in the film Mahaan; however, her scenes did not make the final cut. Karthik Subbaraj is the director of this film. Bhojan's next project was the crime thriller Web series Tamil Rockerz, in which she portrayed a forensic officer.
Bhojan was ranked No. 1 in The Times Most Desirable Women on Television in 2017, and No. 3 in 2018 and 2019. She was also ranked 16th in The Times' list of the most desirable women in 2020. She is now a Zee Thirai Brand Ambassador.
