Apple India has gifted the newest iPhone 14 Max Pro to a number of Bollywood stars as part of a massive brand promotion effort. Soon after, these celebrities flocked to their own social media sites to show off their newest electronic gizmo, leaving us to contemplate our meagre savings accounts.
Watch celebs, from up-and-coming stars like Janhvi Kapoor and Ananya Panday to seasoned pros like Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Soha Ali Khan, and Kunal Kemmu, gush over a phone we can only hope to acquire in 168 years.
Janhvi, like her cousin Shanaya Kapoor, posted a boomerang of the new phone to Instagram Stories, while Ananya showed off the phone's excellent camera quality by taking a picture of her grandmother and mother, Bhavana Panday. On her Instagram Stories, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja upped the ante by posting a time-lapse video. Both Kunal and Soha posted videos of the modern device.
It's no secret that in today's digital environment, celebrities often receive free products as part of a company's influencer marketing campaign. Apple, on the other hand, has such a strong reputation that it need almost no "shoutouts" to continue to thrive. The new iPhone 14, an aspirationally valuable weapon with a price tag of INR 1.4 lakh, is selling like hotcakes around the world despite its high asking price.
As Apple prepares to ship its newest delights to Bollywood, one would wonder if the film industry actually required them. If they really wanted it, why couldn't they buy it for themselves? And does this kind of overt display inspire a craving for material possessions?
Maybe those who needed them more may have been given the phones as gifts. Perhaps our own jealousy is to blame.
