Sanjeeda Sheikh (born December 20, 1984) is an Indian television actress who works in the Hindi language. She is a well-known actress on Indian television.
Early years
She was born in Kuwait to pious Muslim parents from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Private life
She married her longtime boyfriend Aamir Ali on March 2, 2012. It was announced in August 2020 that the couple had a one-year-old daughter, Ayra Ali, via surrogacy.
After 8 years of marriage, they separated in 2020 and were awarded divorce in 2021, with Sheikh receiving custody of their daughter. According to reports, she is currently dating her Taish co-star Harshvardhan Rane.
Zakerabanu Zakir Hussain Bagban, Sheikh's sister-in-law, filed a domestic abuse charge against her, her brother Anas Abdul Rahim Sheikh, and their mother, Anisha Sheikh, on May 29, 2017. Zakerabanu claims that on May 27, she was on the phone with her father when the trio began yelling at her and beating her up, claiming that they no longer wanted her in their Mumbai home. The FIR was challenged by Sheikh's family in the Ahmedabad High Court. According to the petition, Sheikh was shooting on the day of the event. Sanjeeda Sheikh was given interim relief in the matter on August 30 when the Ahmedabad High Court waived serving of the notice.
Sanjeeda's career includes a variety of roles on television soap operas. She made her acting debut in the 2005 TV series Kyaa Hoga Nimmo Kaa as Nimmo. She then played a vamp in the 2007 Star Plus serial Kayamath. In the same year, she competed in a dancing competition show called Nach Baliye 3 with husband Aamir Ali, and the couple won.
In 2008, she starred in the 9X channel's drama Kya Dill Main Hai, alongside Aamir Ali.
In Ek Hasina Thi, Sheikh played Durga Thakur, an ambitious and assertive young woman seeking justice for her sister. Her performance in the serial was praised by reviewers and viewers alike, and it was one of the most popular series on Star Plus at the time.
Sheikh made her cinematic debut as Dhani in Ishq Ka Rang Safed in 2016, marking the first time she played a mother of a 5-year-old child.
Sheikh starred as Renya in the spooky web series Gehraiyaan in March 2017, alongside her Ek Hasina Thi co-star Vatsal Sheth. The web series is directed by Sidhant Sachdev, a debutante, and produced by the Vikram Bhatt production firm. In 2017, Sheikh starred as Kamini Mathur, a Bollywood starlet, in the Star Plus television series Love Ka Hai Intezaar, alongside Keith Sequeira. The show was once known as Kya Tu Meri Lage.
