Sanaya Irani is an Indian actress who was born on September 17, 1983. She is most known for her roles in Miley Jab Hum Tum, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?, and Rangrasiya. She finished as the first runner-up in the eighth season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2015. She later competed in Nach Baliye in 2017 with her spouse Mohit Sehgal, finishing third.
Childhood and education
Irani was born in Mumbai on September 17, 1983, to an Irani (Zoroastrian) household. Irani attended an Ooty boarding school for seven years. Before becoming a model, she graduated from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai and was pursuing an MBA.
Irani announced her love with Miley Jab Hum Tum co-star Mohit Sehgal on November 19, 2010, the last day of filming.
Irani proposed to Sehgal in December 2015. They married on January 25, 2016 in Goa.
Modeling career and feature film debut (2005-2007)
Photographer-turned-actor Boman Irani created Irani's first modeling portfolio. Irani made her acting debut as Mehbooba in the Yash Raj film Fanaa (2006). Before entering television, the actress spent a year doing TV commercials alongside Bollywood stars like as Shahrukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and others. She debuted with Jagjit Singh's Tumko Dekha. Irani was not fluent in Hindi at the start of her career and has spoken about her difficulties with the language on various occasions.
debut and breakthrough on television (2007-2010)
Her television debut was as Cadet Sameera Shroff in the SAB TV drama Left Right Left (2007). Her director helped her with her Hindi. This was followed by a negative part in Imagine TV's Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi (2008).
Irani's first lead role as a protagonist was as the humble, studious, and introverted Gunjan in STAR One's Miley Jab Hum Tum (2008-2010). Irani co-hosted the second season of Zara Nachke Dikha on STAR Plus for a short time with boyfriend Mohit Sehgal. (2010). She also appeared as a panelist in Meethi Chorii No. 1 alongside Ragini Khanna. (2010).
seasoned actress (2011-2014)
She played Khushi Kumari Gupta, the vivacious and loving female heroine of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? (2011-2012), opposite Barun Sobti. The show, which aired its final episode on November 30, 2012, frequently ranked among the top ten daily dramas on Indian general entertainment channels.
Irani co-hosted Zee TV's Valentine's Day special Ishq Wala Love with Karan Grover in early 2013. She later featured as a participant in Ram Kapoor's Welcome - Baazi Mehmaan-Nawaazi ki (2013).
In Chhan Chhan, she plays a vibrant and trendy girl. (2013). The show was based on the Hindi film Khubsoorat. Irani then played Parvati in Rangrasiya (2014). Saurabh Tiwari, the head of Tequila Shots Production, produced the show. The plot revolved around a border security guard and an orphan girl with opposing ideologies. It came to an end in September.
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa's future success (2015-present)
Irani also appeared in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 8, which aired on Colors in 2015. Irani returned as Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada in the miniseries Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?... Ek Jashan (2015), which concluded in December. Irani and her husband Mohit Sehgal appeared on the dance show Nach Baliye 8 in 2017. During Nach Baliye, followers of Divyanka Tripathi alleged that Sanaya and Mohit were predetermined winners, but she slammed the trolls on Instagram and said this is false.
Additional appearances
Irani made a quick appearance in the dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in August 2013 to encourage her best friend Drashti Dhami. In June 2014, she returned to Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa for the seventh season to assist Ashish Sharma. Irani made a special guest appearance in Bigg Boss 7's grand finale in December 2013, alongside Ashish Sharma, Preetika Rao, and Harshad Arora. In March and June of 2014, she had a guest appearance in Beintehaa.
Irani visited the United Kingdom on behalf of Star Plus.
In 2012, the Eastern Eye journal selected her as one of the 50 sexiest Asian women, and she was ranked tenth in 2013. Rediff.com named her one of the top ten best television actresses in 2014. Sanaya became the only television actress to be named to People (magazine)'s list of India's 40 most attractive women in 2015.
