Samina Peerzada (born Butt in Punjabi and Urdu) is a Pakistani film and television actress, producer, and director.
Samina was born in Lahore to an educated Kashmiri Butt family, but was raised in Karachi, Sindh Pakistan. She decided to pursue a career in acting after graduating in commerce. Samina was cast in starring roles in several films after many successful years of acting in television dramas and minor roles in television commercials.
Samina began her modeling career in 1974 and went on to appear in several films, including Nazdikiyan, Mukhra, Bazar-e-Husn, Shaadi Mere Shohar Ki, and Bulandi.
She has traveled extensively and has also performed at the International Ibsen Festival in Oslo. Among her notable stage performances are Raaz-o-Niaz and Ibsen's A Doll's House.
Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan, Rehaai, Durr-e-Shahwar, Dastaan, and Karobi are among her television credits.
The Valley, her first Hollywood film, was released on March 2, 2018. Another Pakistani actor, Alyy Khan, also appears in this film.
Inteha, a critically acclaimed film addressing the social issue of marital rape, marked Peerzada's directorial debut. She went on to direct the less successful commercial film Shararat.
She also hosts the YouTube show Rewind with Samina Peerzada.
Personal life
In 1975, she married Usman Peerzada, another media personality. Anum and Amal are the couple's two daughters. Amal, their younger daughter, is a miniature artist.
