Park Shin-hye (born February 18, 1990) is a South Korean singer and actress. She rose to prominence as a child on television shows such as Stairway to Heaven (2003) and Tree of Heaven (2004). (2006). She went on to have even more success after starring in Miracle in Cell No. 7, one of the highest-grossing Korean films of all time. Park is regarded as one of the most prolific actresses of her generation, with roles in You're Beautiful (2009), The Heirs (2013), Pinocchio (2014-2015), Doctors (2016), Memories of the Alhambra (2018-2019), and the action thrillers #Alive (2020) and Sisyphus: The Myth (2021).
In 2015, Park was ranked 33rd on Forbes Korea's Power Celebrity list, 12th in 2017, 40th in 2021, and 33rd in 2022.
Childhood and education
Park was born in Gwangju on February 18, 1990, and grew up in Seoul's Songpa District. Park Shin-won, a guitarist and composer, is her older brother. Park made her first two appearances in music videos for singer Lee Seung-"...Do hwan's You Love Me!" and "Flower" in 2001 and 2003, respectively. She then received formal training in singing, dancing, and acting at Dream Factory under his supervision.
Park attended Chung-Ang University after graduating from Youngpa Girls' High School. She studied there for eight years before graduating in February 2016 with a degree in Theater. Park was honoured at the convocation ceremony with a service award for her work as an artist ambassador for the university.
2003-2008: Beginnings of a career
Park rose to prominence in 2003 as the younger version of Choi Ji-character woo's in the popular Korean drama Stairway to Heaven. Following that, she expanded her filmography with supporting roles in several television series, most notably as a rebellious adolescent in the 2004 drama special Very Merry Christmas.
Park's first adult leading role was in the South Korean-Japanese melodrama Tree of Heaven (2006), for which she received critical acclaim. The series was also broadcast in Japan, giving Park more international exposure.
Park made her film debut in Evil Twin (2007), a summer horror film in which she played two characters: the main character and the ghost of the main character's sister, who haunts the other sister after her death. She then played her first antagonist in the romance comedy series Prince Hours, a spin-off of Princess Hours (2006), and starred as the female lead in the weekend drama Kimcheed Radish Cubes.

Park rose to prominence after co-starring with Jang Keun-suk in the romance comedy music drama You're Beautiful (2009) as a cross-dressing heroine. Despite receiving only average ratings in South Korea, the series developed a cult following and received high ratings in Japan. She released the songs "Lovely Day" and "Without Words" for the original soundtrack of the drama.
Park appeared in the low-budget romantic comedy film Cyrano Agency in 2010, which was about a dating agency that helps its customers win the hearts of the people they want. The sleeper hit was a critical and commercial success, grossing 2.7 million admissions nationwide and becoming the year's eighth best-selling film. Park received the Baeksang Arts Awards' "Most Popular Actress" award in the film category. Park also provided the voice of the main character in the animated film Green Days: Dinosaur and I, which debuted to positive reviews at the 15th Busan International Film Festival.
Park then starred alongside Jung Yong-hwa in MBC's youth melodrama Heartstrings (2011). Park gained popularity in Japan with his songs You're Beautiful and Heartstrings, and he signed an exclusive contract with the Japanese management agency IMX. The same year, Park starred in Hayate The Combat Butler, a Taiwanese drama based on the Japanese shnen manga of the same name. Park was cast in the third season of KBS drama special Don't Worry, I'm a Ghost, which aired on July 15, 2012. At the 2012 KBS Drama Awards, her performance in the drama earned her the Best One-Act Special Actress Award. From March 2012 to the present: Breakthrough and commercial success
Park appeared in the comedy drama film Miracle in Cell No. 7, which became one of Korea's highest-grossing films in 2013. She later won "Best Supporting Actress" at the 33rd Korean Association of Film Critics Awards. Park held the "2013 Park Shin Hye Asia Tour: Kiss Of Angel" in four Asian countries to commemorate her tenth anniversary as an actress, becoming the first actress to do so. She then appeared in the music video "Eraser" for actor and singer So Ji-album sub's Two'clock... Playground, with Yoo Seung-ho, a former child actor. Park co-starred in The Heirs, a teen drama written by Kim Eun-sook, with Lee Min-ho the same year. The Heirs was a huge hit both locally (with a peak rating of 28.6%) and internationally, with over one billion cumulative views on the Chinese streaming website iQiyi. Park portrayed Queen Elizabeth II in the 2014 film The Royal Tailor. The same year, Park starred in Pinocchio alongside actor Lee Jong-suk, playing the heroine of the drama who suffers from a chronic symptom known as "Pinocchio complex," causing violent hiccups when she lies. In just one year, Pinocchio earned an estimated $5.62 million in broadcasting rights. Park made her small-screen return in 2016 with SBS' medical drama Doctors, in which she played a troubled adolescent who later transformed into a successful doctor. She then appeared as a judo coach in the comedy film My Annoying Brother, alongside actor Jo Jung-suk and Exo's Do Kyung-soo. Private life
On March 7, 2018, it was revealed that Park had been dating actor Choi Tae-joon since late 2017.
On November 23, 2021, it was revealed that Park was pregnant and planning to marry Choi. They married in a church ceremony in Seoul on January 22, 2022, in front of friends and family. On May 31, 2022, she gave birth to their first child, a boy.
Philanthrophy Park has regularly participated in charitable causes such as the 'Hopes, Dreams, Happy Trip to Korea' fund raising event hosted by non-profit organisation 'Good Friends Save Children' (GFSC) and the Lotte Department Store's Lovely Hands campaign. She also donates to charitable causes on a regular basis.
Park's involvement with children in need began in May 2011, when she volunteered for nine days in Ghana as a goodwill ambassador for the non-profit organisation "Korea Food for the Hungry International" (KFHI). She met Abanna, a five-year-old girl who was malnourished. Park continued to be Abanne's sponsor.
Park founded the "Starlight Angel Project" in 2011, spearheading activities to help children both at home and abroad. The programme funds school and library construction, free kindergarten education, free meals for children, village well construction and repair, goat and pig support, malaria mosquito net deployment and prevention education, and other initiatives. Park founded the "Shinhye's Centre" in Ghana, West Africa, in 2013, which included a library and an audiovisual hall. More than 500 students were served by the centre.
During her most recent visit to the Philippines, she decided to open a second Shin Hye Center in Manila. The Manila centre, like her first centre in Ghana, promotes children's education and nutrition. In 2016, a second centre was built in Manila, Philippines.
Park was inducted as the 36th member of Korea Food for the Hungry International's Philanthropy Club on November 24, 2016, a select group of donors who have given at least US$85 thousand to the organisation.
On December 20, 2018, Park donated 20 washing machines designed to wash fire-retardant clothing, totaling approximately 50 million won. LG Electronics has pledged to match Park's donation by installing a dryer for fire-resistant clothing with each washing machine she donates.
Park was named Philanthropic Celebrity of the Year at the 2019 Asia Philanthropy Awards in 2019.
In 2022, Park donated $50 million to the Hope Bridge Disaster Relief Association to assist those affected by a large forest fire in Uljin, Gyeongbuk. And it has now spread to Samcheok, Gangwon.
