Park Min-young (born 4 March 1986) is a South Korean actress. She first gained attention in the historical coming-of-age drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010), and she has since appeared in the television series City Hunter (2011), Glory Jane (2011), Dr. Jin (2012), A New Leaf (2014), Healer (2014-2015), Remember (2015-2016), Queen for Seven Days (2017), What's Wrong with Secretary Kim (2018), Her Private Life (2019), When the Weather Is Fine (2020), and Forecasting Love and Weather (2020). Park received his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Dongguk University in Seoul in February 2013.

2005-2009: Beginnings of a Career

In 2005, Park made her acting debut in an SK Telecom commercial. A year later, she made her acting debut in the hit sitcom High Kick! (2006). She continued to appear in television dramas, playing the only daughter of a notorious gangster in I Am Sam (2007) and a gumiho (nine-tailed fox in Korean mythology) in an episode of horror-themed drama Hometown of Legends (2008). She also portrayed a villainous princess in the period drama Ja Myung Go (2009) and a girl caught between two marathon runners in Running, Gu (2010). 2010-2011: Groundbreaking

Park made her breakthrough with the 2010 drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal, a coming-of-age drama in which her character, an intelligent and resourceful young woman, disguises herself as a boy in order to gain admission to Joseon's most prestigious learning institution. This was followed in 2011 by another hit, City Hunter, based on the Japanese manga of the same name. Park co-starred in the film with Lee Min-ho as a vigilante out for vengeance and justice, and the secret service agent he falls for. Park's success on television led to increased advertising opportunities for the actress.

Later that year, she made her feature film debut in The Cat, about a woman who becomes consumed by fear after adopting a cat found at the scene of a mysterious death. Park then starred in the melodrama Glory Jane as a nurse's aide who falls in love with a former baseball player (played by Chun Jung-myung).

2012–present: Positions of authority

Park appeared in another manga film adaptation in 2012, Dr. Jin, in which a neurosurgeon (Song Seung-heon) travels back in time to 1860. Park played both the protagonist's present-day girlfriend (a comatose doctor) and her Joseon era doppelgänger (a sheltered noblewoman).

Park Min Young's contract with her previous management company, King Kong Entertainment, expired in May 2013, and she became a free agent for six months. Park signed with new management firm Culture Depot in November 2013.

In the legal drama A New Leaf (2014), she played an idealistic intern who clashes with her brilliant but cynical lawyer boss until he becomes amnesiac (played by Kim Myung-min). This was followed by a role as a tabloid reporter in Song Ji-Healer, na's which also starred Ji Chang-wook and Yoo Ji-tae. Healer was well-liked in China, which helped Park gain more attention.

Park then appeared as a lawyer in the Korean drama Remember on SBS from late 2015 to early 2016, and as a Queen in the 2017 historical drama Queen for Seven Days. Park was confirmed as a regular cast member in Netflix's variety show Busted! in September 2017. Park Min Young's contract with her agency Culture Depot was reported to have expired in November 2017. Park signed with Namoo Actors, a new management company, in December 2017.

Park co-starred in her first romantic comedy drama, What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, in 2018. The series was a ratings success, which increased Park's popularity. Park held her first fan meeting since her debut 12 years ago, titled My Day, in October.

Park co-starred in her second romantic comedy drama Her Private Life with Kim Jae-wook in 2019. Park portrayed Seong Deok-mi, a curator at an art museum who spends her free time obsessively following idol groups.

She co-starred in the JTBC romance drama When the Weather Is Fine with Seo Kang-joon in 2020.

Park's contract with Namoo Actors was announced to have expired on December 29, 2021, after she declined to renew it. A day later, Hook Entertainment announced that Park had signed with them.

In 2022, Park co-starred with Song Kang in the JTBC romance drama Forecasting Love and Weather as Jin Ha-kyung, a general forecaster at the Korea Meteorological Administration.

Personal life

‎Philanthropy

On March 7, 2022, Park donated 100 million won to the Hope Bridge Disaster Relief Association to help the victims of the massive wildfire that started in Uljin, Gyeongbuk and has spread to Samcheok, Gangwon.
